The company Xiaomi unveiled last year its first fully-fledged smartwatches with a built-in operating system under the name Mi Watch.

However, these watches were intended primarily for the Chinese market and were not adapted for global users. According to the latest reports, this could change.

Global version in development

The Mi Watch became popular not only thanks to its fairly wide and feature-rich capabilities, but also because it offered an attractive design and an excellent price/performance ratio. Even so, the watches were available only on the domestic, Chinese market.

The good news is that the global version is already in development. In an Instagram interview, it was also confirmed by Xiaomi CFO and International President Show Zi Chew. Users around the world won’t be forced to rely on imports and the offer from select retailers, or on any potential compromises in using the Chinese version.

In an Instagram Live interview, the aforementioned Xiaomi representative answered some questions from users about new products and their availability in the German market. One of the fans also asked about the global version of the Mi Watch. Zi Chew laughed and confirmed that development of these watches is underway.

This is undoubtedly great news for users, officially confirming for the first time that the Xiaomi Mi Watch will also have a global version. We’re curious when this version will appear in the lineup of some European retailers or in the European warehouse of Chinese sellers. Follow Xiaomi Planet and you’ll learn more.
