The latest Xiaomi flagships in the form of the Mi 10 smartphone series have been unveiled. This is the very first time the brand has introduced not just one flagship model at the same time, but right away two. As you surely know, it’s the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, and today we’ll focus on how they differ from each other.

Comparison: Xiaomi Mi 10 vs Mi 10 Pro

If you watched the live launch of these smartphones or read our articles about the unveiling, you probably already know the details of their specs. Still, we decided to summarize their differences in a single article and make it easier to choose the right device.

First, a basic specs comparison in a table:

As you can see, there aren’t many differences, but there are some specs that make these smartphones stand out clearly. This is also supported by the name and by our table: the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro will be slightly better equipped. But is it worth investing even more money? Let’s take a closer look at some of the differences.

Look & Design

Both smartphones are almost indistinguishable. The first clue might be the color version. The Mi 10 comes in titanium black, peach gold, and ice blue. Mi 10 Pro will be available in starry blue and pearl white.

In photos, the titanium black and starry blue versions seem almost the same. Over time, the manufacturer could also produce smartphones in the same color variants.

Visually, though, you can identify both versions with certainty by looking at the rear camera module. The Mi 10 Pro model has laser autofocus sensors clearly placed between the second and third camera sensors, which you won’t find on the Mi 10.

Display

The Mi 10 series display delivers incredible specs. For example, mention the 90 Hz refresh rate and the 180 Hz sampling frequency, or the contrast ratio of 5 000 000 : 1.

When we compare all the parameters, we only find differences in one, and that’s obvious. The Mi 10 model has it at the level of 1120 nits, while the Pro version goes up to 1200 nits.

Performance & Memory

In this category, there aren’t any differences. After all, both flagship devices received exactly the same computing equipment. Just to recap, it includes the Snapdragon 865 processor, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.0 storage. In performance tests on AnTuTu, both versions achieved the same—yet incredibly high—scores.

However, the manufacturer equipped the smartphones with different RAM and storage capacities. The various Mi 10 versions come in these configurations:

Xiaomi Mi 10Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
RAM / storage8 GB / 128 GB8 GB / 256 GB
RAM / storage8 GB / 256 GB12 GB / 256 GB
RAM / storage12 GB / 256 GB12 GB / 512 GB

Of course, the different memory versions are also priced differently, but that’s something we’ll talk about at the end of the article.

One of them is the king of photography

In this category, we can clearly see the main differences. Whether it’s the camera sensors, but the speakers also differ. Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro wins hands down in terms of camera and audio equipment. And not only over the Mi 10 duo, but currently over all smartphones in the world.

DxOMark’s smartphone won the rating for the best cameras and audio, with both equipment elements analyzed. In the camera rating it scored Mi 10 Pro 124 points, and in the audio rating 76 points—making it a global leader in both categories.

We’ve prepared a detailed overview of the camera sensors of both smartphones. They’re listed from top to bottom, just as they’re physically arranged in the individual Mi 10 versions.

Mi 10 Cameras:

  • 2 MPx portrait depth sensor – f/2.4 aperture, pixel size 1.4 µm
  • 108 MPx ISOCELL Samsung Bright S5KHMX – sensor size 1/1.33″, optical stabilization, f/1.69 aperture, pixel size 1.6 µm 4-in-1, 7 lenses
  • 2 MPx super macro sensor – f/2.4 aperture, pixel size 1.12 µm
  • 13 MPx ultra-wide sensor – field of view 123 degrees, f/2.4 aperture, pixel size 1.12 µm

Mi 10 Pro Cameras:

  • 8 MPx PureCel Omnivision OV08A10 super telephoto – sensor size 1/4.4″, 10x hybrid optical zoom, optical stabilization, f/2.0 aperture, pixel size 1.0 µm, 5 lenses
  • 12 MPx portrait sensor ISOCELL Samsung S5K2L7 – sensor size 1/2.6″, 2x optical zoom, 2x Phase Detection autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, pixel size 1.4 µm, 6 lenses
  • 108 MPx ISOCELL Samsung Bright S5KHMX – sensor size 1/1.33″, optical stabilization, f/1.69 aperture, pixel size 1.6 µm 4-in-1, 8 lenses
  • 20 MPx ultra-wide CMOS BSI Sony IMX350 Exmor RS – sensor size 1/2.8″, field of view 117 degrees, f/2.2 aperture, pixel size 1.0 µm, 6 lenses

As you can see, when comparing camera setups, the clear winner is the Pro version.

When it comes to the audio setup, both versions are missing a 3.5 mm audio jack connector. However, with today’s selection of wireless headphones, we don’t really see it as a big downside anymore.

Xiaomi’s big step is that both versions of the flagship are equipped with two stereo linear speakers. Here too, though, we find differences—specifically in the speaker chamber size. For the Pro model it’s 1.2cc, while for the standard Mi 10 it’s 1.0cc.

Battery and charging

This is the second-to-last category where we find differences between Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. What’s interesting is that the improved, more expensive model comes with a capacity-reduced battery. Mi 10 Pro has a battery capacity that’s 280 mAh lower, but that’s more than made up for by ultra-fast charging up to 50 W.

The Mi 10 model has fast charging technology at a power of only 30 W. Wireless charging and wireless reverse charging are at the same level on both smartphones.

Other equipment features are already the same across both versions of the Mi 10 series.

Price

As always with comparisons, the last and often decisive factor is price. So let’s take a look at the Chinese price tags of the individual versions, since we don’t know the European pricing yet.

Xiaomi Mi 10 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage for 3999 yuan = ~€530 / 13,100 Kč

Xiaomi Mi 10 with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage for 4299 yuan = ~€570 / 14,000 Kč

Xiaomi Mi 10 with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage for 4699 yuan = ~€620 / 15,400 Kč

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage for 4999 yuan = ~€660 / 16,400 Kč

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage for 5499 yuan = ~€725 / 18,000 Kč

Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage for 5999 yuan = ~€790 / 19,600 Kč

When we compare the lowest price tiers, we can see a price difference of about 130 € / 3 300 CZK. For that amount, you’ll get even more of the best mobile photography setup in the world—upgraded audio, an improved display, and super-fast charging.

Whether these benefits are worth that kind of investment is something you’ll have to judge for yourself. In our view, in these price categories it isn’t a huge gap, and we’d rather choose the Pro version.
