Xiaomi has a patent for a smartphone with a rear display. Will we see the Mi MIX Dual Display?

The company Xiaomi has patented a smartphone that also includes a secondary rear display. In the first images, it is not large and it is located at the level of the quad rear cameras’ module. Will we see a futuristic model Mi MIX Dual Display?

Secondary rear display

This is not the first implementation of a rear display. However, the current and patented one offers a rather interesting use. It won’t be a full-fledged or stretched-out panel like in competing models. This panel is placed symmetrically relative to the four rear cameras, and its size is identical to the camera modules.

This is what the concept for the Xiaomi Mi MIX Dual Display model looks like.

The panel looks more like a smart watch display, and its function will probably be similar. If the phone is placed face-down with the main display facing downwards, this secondary display could show the time, notifications, a mini media player, but also incoming calls—for example with quick actions.

Another bold piece of information is a claim that we are witnessing a real model being prepared: Xiaomi Mi MIX Dual Display. The Mi MIX series, similarly to the concept Mi MIX ALPHA, has been futuristic from the very beginning, and this model would not be an exception.

On the front, there should be a full-fledged panel without cutouts. It includes a standard earpiece at the top and a pair of sensors. We don’t have more design details yet, but we’re definitely looking forward to this concept. Follow the portal Xiaomi Planet for more information.
