The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi officially introduced an updated version of its fitness bracelet in September 2021, called Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 with an NFC. After many years of waiting for this feature to launch in Europe, we’ve finally been able to roll it out—and the bracelet is already working in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 NFC
At its core, it’s the well-known fitness bracelet Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6, which is already officially sold on our market. However, in the new version, Xiaomi adds a few interesting additional features. To sum it up, the bracelet comes with a black rounded design, a replaceable silicone strap, and magnetic charging.
The equipment of this fitness bracelet includes a 1.56″ AMOLED display with a resulting sharpness of 326 ppi. The display is touch-sensitive with very slim bezels. The bracelet offers monitoring for up to 30 fitness activities (6 of which are also recognized automatically). Other features include sleep monitoring, SpO2 monitoring of blood oxygen levels, stress monitoring, breathing, heart-rate monitoring, and even the menstrual cycle.
The construction also brings increased resistance to water and dust—even with 5 ATM certification. So monitoring your swimming performance won’t be a problem either. The manufacturer also claims battery life of up to 12 days.
Support for contactless payments and Amazon Alexa
However, since this is an updated version, Xiaomi also thinks about new features. The first one is support for mobile payments in cooperation with Mastercard. The original experiment with support for the Russian, Belarusian, and Ukrainian markets is now expanding across all of Europe.
In the Czech Republic, payments are already fully working, and in Slovakia the manufacturer is concluding agreements with banks—payments should be fully functional soon. This update was officially confirmed by a spokesperson for Xiaomi Slovakia. However, you can enable payments already now, via the Curve service, where you can also load your VISA card.
When supporting payments via the Mastercard service, you only need to upload your payment card through the app, and then you can make your payments simply by holding your fitness bracelet up to a contactless payment terminal.
The second new feature in this version is support for the intelligent assistant Amazon Alexa. You can already control your smart home by giving commands through your fitness band, thanks to the built-in microphone.
