The most affordable watches with an AMOLED display
Amazfit Verge Lite are something of a lighter version of the original Amazfit Verge watch model. They look the same and even have the same AMOLED display. The main differences are their battery life and price.
So far, the Lite version has only been released on the Chinese market, priced at 499 yuan. That works out to roughly €65 / 1700 CZK. Xiaomi once again shows its strength in cost efficiency. The next equipment details are also very interesting.
Similar specs as the Amazfit Verge
Even with the lower price, Amazfit Verge Lite still come with very similar specs to the original Verge model. They feature the same 1.3″ AMOLED display with a 43 mm diameter and a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 with a surface that doesn’t capture fingerprints.
They also have the same sporty design and a silicone strap with a length of 70 + 113 mm. The watch weight is only 46 grams, and their primary focus is monitoring sports activities. They also include water resistance with IP68 certification.
Amazft Verge Lite come with a PPG heart rate sensor, have a 3-axis accelerometer, and an ambient light sensor. Thanks to GPS and Glonass, they can record your route, and the offer includes up to 11 sports activities, including golf, cycling, running, hiking, gym training, football, and more.
All these activities let the watch measure them and provide relevant results for your sporting performance.
Battery life up to 20 days
Despite the power-hungry AMOLED display, the Amazfit Verge Lite have impressive battery life. A 390 mAh battery keeps them “alive” for up to 20 days with everyday use. With GPS continuously turned on, they last for 40 hours. Charging afterward takes 2.5 hours.
New Amazfit smartwatches also support offline Alipay payments, which are usable only in China. No word yet has been mentioned about a global version of these watches, but many would certainly appreciate the option of NFC payments.
The watches communicate with your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0. In the app, you can change the watch face design, and directly from the watch you can control music that you’re playing on your smartphone.
Amazfit Verge Lite aim to help users live a healthier lifestyle also through the „Sedentary reminder“ feature, where they will alert you to sitting for too long and prompt you to take a shorter walk. The features also include sleep monitoring and alarm setting.
Is it the successor to the Amazfit BIP?
The Amazfit Verge Lite smartwatches can be seen as a kind of successor to the popular cheap Amazfit BIP watches. Compared to those, they mainly bring an improved AMOLED display and several additional features.
If you’re wondering what the differences are compared to the classic Amazfit Verge, there are several. The Verge Lite use an unspecified low-power processor, while the classic Verge has a more powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core processor.
That’s also why the Lite version has been cut down by removing some features, so that the watch system runs as smoothly as possible. Also they don’t include WiFi,they don’t have internal storage for saving songs, and they have fewer sensors. These differences are exactly what are behind the 4x longer battery life in the case of the Lite model — the classic Verge model lasts only 5 days.
However, even with the reduced specs, Amazfit Verge Lite are still very interesting smartwatches worth our attention.
