As with previous generations, the latest generation of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 smart band has once again pleasantly surprised us from the manufacturer. The fourth generation of the best-selling smart fitness band still keeps what Mi Bands originally brought – an unbelievably affordable price and a bunch of features.
An app by a Czech developer
However, as they say, nothing is perfect. Fortunately, there’s a very strong community around Mi Bands made up of people who try to improve them. One of them is a Czech developer behind the well-known Tools & Mi Band app. The app is paid and costs 3.39 € / 85 CZK.

If you own any of the Mi Bands, you probably already know this app, and you may even have it already. The app for Mi Bands improves what Xiaomi didn’t do quite right. This also applies to the latest Xiaomi Mi Band 4.

Caller number and SK/CZ characters
The portal SvetAndroida.cz shared on its YouTube channel a video describing a solution to two main shortcomings of the Mi Band 4. It’s about displaying the caller number, which the bracelet normally doesn’t show. After installing the app, the Mi Band 4 can do it.
The second problem is with Slovak and Czech characters that the Mi Band 4 can’t display. The app automatically converts text with accents to text without diacritics. Notification message text is therefore much easier to read.
In its video, the SvetAndroida.cz portal also describes another advantage of the Tools & Mi Band app. It’s about saving heart-rate data, which the app sorts into a clear graph. The data can even be synchronized with the Google Fit app. This is something the original Mi Fit app can’t do.
