Segway brand, which currently falls under Ninebot and is also supported by Xiaomi, has behind it a successful campaign on the well-known Indiegogo platform.

A manufacturer known mainly for electric scooters and other means of transport has introduced a crazy Segway Dirt eBike.
An electric dirt bike, as it should be
Segway Dirt eBike is an eco-friendly, electrically powered dirt bike—so a small, lightweight motorcycle designed primarily for off-road riding with an electric drive. It’s compact, easy to handle, easy to ride, and requires little maintenance, coming in two models – X160 and X260.
Segway Dirt eBike X160
This model is the smaller of the two machines offered. It has a curb weight of just 48 kilograms, and its wheels have a diameter of 17 inches. The motor of this model delivers up to 3 000 W and achieves a maximum torque of 220 Nm. The X160 can reach a top speed of 50 km/h, and with one charge it has a range of about 65 km.
The lithium battery charges in approximately 4 to 5 hours and has a capacity of 960 Wh. Just for interest—if we multiply the capacity by the voltage, we get the value used for battery capacities in mobile phones, and in this case it’s roughly 16 300 mAh.
The Segway Dirt eBike X160 features a single-sided front suspension with adjustable stiffness. The rear shock absorber travel is 75 mm, and its stiffness can also be adjusted. The ground clearance of the ebike X160 is 22 cm.
Segway Dirt eBike X260
Compared to the smaller sibling, this eBike has been inflated in almost every parameter. It has a curb weight of 56 kg, and its wheels have a diameter of 19 inches. In this case, the motor has power of 5 000 W with a maximum torque of 250 Nm. The X260 can ride at a maximum speed of 75 km/h, and with one charge it has a range of up to about 120 km.
The lithium battery pack also has a capacity of 1920 Wh (approximately 28 500 mAh) and it charges in about 3 to 4 hours. The Segway Dirt eBike X260 has a dual-sided front suspension with adjustable stiffness.
The rear shock absorber travel is 85 mm, and its stiffness can also be adjusted. The ground clearance of the ebike X260 is 27 cm.
Great specs and awesome equipment
Both Segway Dirt eBike models have excellent riding characteristics. Their fairly simple and lightweight aluminum alloy construction, together with powerful motors, allows you to perform even the most demanding stunts with ease.
There’s no problem tackling more challenging terrain, steep stairs, or pulling off mind-blowing wheelies (riding on the rear wheel).
The IP67 water-resistance certificate for the dirt eBike and IP65 for the battery pack won’t force you to stop even when crossing a stream or bigger puddles. Multi-link hydraulic suspension of the central rear shock, combined with the front fork with the latest suspension system, is designed for maximum rider comfort on any terrain.
Both Segway Dirt eBike models come with a dual-drive system, consisting of a primary drive system and a secondary drive system. The primary drive system includes an HTD 8M belt with a diagonal of 22 inches, and the secondary drive system is made up of a chain with 106 links.
Both the front and rear brakes are disc brakes. They’re resistant to water and higher temperatures, and they provide sufficient braking performance.
The Segway Dirt eBike has two riding modes: the Sport mode for more aggressive riding, or the EP mode for efficient operation with the longest possible range. The battery can be swapped easily, and if you have a second fully charged one ready, you can continue riding in just a few seconds.
The advantage is also the ability to pair the dirt e-bike via a wireless Bluetooth interface with an app on your smartphone. There, the rider can view various speed statistics, covered distances, the battery status, and much more.
Price and availability
The Indiegogo campaign was a success—the manufacturer raised an incredible 1,6 million dollars and has already started shipping its new electric dirt bikes to the first customers.
The Segway Dirt eBike X160 is available from $2,499, which is about €2,314 / 57,990 CZK, and the X260 model will be sold for $3,999 – after conversion €3,700 / 92,726 CZK. The news is currently available only for the US market; there’s no information yet about availability in Europe.
