Great design and comfortable to wear
Although the Haylou Solar watches don’t carry the Xiaomi brand name directly, the company lists them in a new crowdfunding campaign on the Xiaomi Youpin platform.
So they’re part of Xiaomi’s eco chain, and even though the name includes the word “Solar,” they actually have nothing to do with the sun.
The new smartwatches from Haylou arrive in a good-looking round design with a metal body. Dimensions without the strap are 45.3 x 11.4 mm. The total strap length including the watch is 264 mm, and its width is 22 mm.
The watches weigh 54 g and, together with the flexible silicone strap, they’re comfortable to wear. Thanks to the adjustable porous design, they can be adapted to different wrists, which allows long-term wear without strain.
No missing IP68
When describing the design, we’ll also mention the durability certificate IP68. Thanks to this, Haylou Solar are resistant to water flow and should also withstand swimming.
Round touchscreen display
The dominant part of the watch is their touch display. It’s from the TFT category and has a diameter of 1.28 inches. It’s circular in shape and has a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels. The display shows rich and smooth colours and has good display capabilities both in the dark and in bright light.
Functions you expect from a smartwatch
Haylou Solar come with many functions that you expect from smartwatches. Even though that’s a given, we’ll first mention watch functions, alarms, stopwatches, and a timer. An integrated weather forecast app is also included.
The optical sensor the watches are equipped with uses intelligent algorithms for 24-hour heart rate monitoring. Of course, this feature doesn’t have to be enabled permanently.
12 sports activities
Monitoring up to 12 sports activities is also pre-set. Supported activities include walking, climbing, outdoor running, treadmill running, cycling, a cycling trainer, yoga, fitness, gymnastics, basketball, football, and rowing.
Besides sports activities, Haylou Solar also monitor the daily step count. Along with the number of steps, they also show the distance covered and the number of calories burned. A sleep monitor is also included, with an assessment of its quality in the mobile app.
No app control missing
The app for synchronizing data from the watch with your smartphone is called Haylou Fit. Data is transferred via Bluetooth 5.0.
Thanks to the app, the watch will notify you of incoming calls, received SMS messages, and there’s also the option to set notifications from various apps. The app is suitable for operating systems Android from version 4.4 and higher, and for iOS from version 8.0 and higher.
Battery life will surprise you
The built-in battery has a capacity of 340 mAh and can handle up to 30-day battery life on a single charge, which is well above standard battery performance.
For active 24-hour heart rate recording, Haylou Solar lasts up to 15 days.
