A few days ago, Redmi introduced a flagship killer – Redmi K30 Pro. It’s a high-quality phone with an excellent price-to-performance ratio. The phone supports the latest 5G technology. Redmi explains the power demands of 5G phones, and that generally applies to them.
Consumption is 20 % higher
This is the official explanation of why your smartphone lasts for 1 day even though its battery capacity is fairly high, up to 4 700 mAh. For phones with a battery capacity of 4 500 mAh and higher, we expect longer battery life than 1 days.
Redmi’s general manager claims that Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processors consume 20 % more power than Qualcomm 700. He also says that 5G technologies consume 20 % more power than 4G. From his statements, it follows that a smartphone that should last at least 1 day needs a much higher battery capacity.
Redmi dealt with a complex technical question
For the Redmi K30 Pro model, the manufacturer had to solve a complex technical issue with the pop-up camera. It takes up quite a lot of valuable space, which is needed for a larger battery.
Fortunately, Redmi came with a revolutionary move, and the motherboard has a “sandwich” type that leaves more room for a large battery.
Redmi also responds despite Qualcomm’s initiative to reduce power consumption of 5G technologies. Qualcomm introduced 2019G PowerSave at the 5 MWC in Barcelona. It’s a project in which 5G technologies have lower energy consumption requirements and promises battery life like 4G phones.
Technologies are still evolving and still bring us something new. Implementing 5G will not only give us higher network speeds, but also better batteries with improved battery life and lifespan, which we definitely welcome. After all, even the first 4G phones weren’t optimized right away.
