This is official. The upcoming flagship called Xiaomi 12 will be officially unveiled at the end of December. The company shared a poster that confirms this.
Xiaomi 12 will be unveiled this month
Along with this poster, it was also revealed that Lei Jun announced the appointment of Wei Siqi as the company’s new manager of digital products. On the Chinese social network Weibo, Wei Siqi confirmed that the Xiaomi 12 model will be the first device he’ll be in charge of.
A little later, an official poster came out stating that the launch date of this new feature had also been published. The Xiaomi 12 smartphone will be officially unveiled on 28. December.
This also confirms the name of the new flagship, namely Xiaomi 12. The launch of the model will be for the domestic market in China, but a few days later we could also see a global presentation.
Along with Xiaomi 12, we’d also like to see the rollout of MIUI 13, about which quite a lot of information has leaked in recent days as well.
The specs will truly be flagship-level
A few days ago, an image render of the Xiaomi 12 device leaked, letting us see it in all its glory. We’re expecting a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a cutout for the selfie camera, featuring an in-display fingerprint reader.
The back will be dominated by a large camera module. Inside, there will be the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The device dimensions should be around 152,7 x 70,0 x 8,6 millimeters, so with this display size it will be a more compact flagship, following the style of the Samsung Galaxy S21.
We’re still curious about the final price for this smartphone, because earlier we reported that due to chip price increases, the cost may be a bit higher than last year.
Xiaomi’s latest series will consist of three devices. In addition to the base model, we’ll also get the Pro and Ultra variants. A fair amount of information about these devices has already leaked too, even though we won’t see them until sometime next year. The question still remains which models will be available on our market. In the previous generation, it wasn’t exactly the Pro model.
