A big Thursday Chinese conference, where we’ll officially get to know the Xiaomi 13 series, is getting closer fast. We were even more excited by the CEO Lei Jun himself, who revealed interesting details about the battery.
The CEO and founder of the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi wrote about the battery of the Xiaomi 13 model on the Chinese social network Weibo. He reacted to a prompt about battery life in Xiaomi 13 series smartphones.
We know the battery capacity
He said he was more interested in real battery life, as well as the thickness and overall dimensions of the device, rather than the battery capacity itself. However, one important detail was included in his post: the base model Xiaomi 13 will have a battery capacity of 4500 mAh.
Lei Jun highlighted the endurance of the smaller model in particular and backed it up with facts, as he presented the DOU battery life test. The base model Xiaomi 13 achieves a score of 1.37, which is even higher than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which has a score of 1.28.
Better battery life than the iPhone 14 Pro Max
iPhones, especially the Max models, have long been among the leaders in battery life. So could Xiaomi 13 really beat it? For comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has a battery capacity of 4,323 mAh.
That’s true, it’s less, but iOS is a great optimized system and even smaller battery capacities can keep the system running for many hours without charging. The iPhone 14 Pro Max even has an LTPO display, which can lower the refresh rate down to 1 Hz.
The secret to success is MIUI 14
At the core of it will likely be the new processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a smaller display, and the new MIUI 14 software layer, which will be better optimized and include less bloat.
Xiaomi 13 should be a compact smartphone, because according to leaks it will feature a 6.2-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone’s width itself will be only 71.5 mm.
