Even the already big lineup of Redmi K30 is getting a whole new member, and its specs will definitely catch the interest of more than one mid-range user.

We’re talking about the Redmi K30i 5G model. This smartphone was recently unveiled by Redmi, and it’s sort of a slightly toned-down sibling of the base Redmi K30 5G, which still has plenty to offer.

A very smooth display

The front of the smartphone with dimensions 165,3 × 76,6 × 8,79 mm is home to a fairly large 6,67″ Super LCD display, which — in addition to Full HD+ (1080 × 2400 pixels) resolution and HDR 10 — also brings a high refresh rate value of up to 120 Hz.

Since the 20:9 aspect-ratio display panel refreshes as many as 120-times per second, the resulting effect will be very pleasant, smooth, and fluid. There’s also protection in the form of Corning Gorilla Glass 5th generation.

Performance doesn’t disappoint

When it comes to performance, the Redmi K30i 5G is equipped with a well-known Qualcomm processor — Snapdragon 765G with 5G network support. This chip offers a great balance between high performance and the pricing that fits right in the mid-range segment.

The memory configuration is the only one. The RAM module is LPDDR4X with 6 GB, and the 128 GB storage is UFS 2.1. Redmi has therefore saved you time by not offering multiple memory variants — there’s no alternative configuration to choose from. There’s also no microSD card slot.

They’ve cut more than one corner on the cameras

On the camera side, the Redmi K30i 5G smartphone, compared to the base version K30 5G, was equipped with a lower-grade. The main sensor was swapped from the original 64 MPx Sony IMX686 to a standard 48 MPx sensor with an aperture of f/1.8.

It’s backed by a 8 MPx ultrawide sensor with a 120° field of view and an f/2.2 aperture, a 5 MPx macro with a minimum focusing distance of 2 cm, and a 2 MPx depth-blur sensor.

The front dual cutout houses a main 20 MPx sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, and next to it there’s another 2 MPx sensor used to calculate the depth of field.

A big battery won’t let you down

The latest Redmi K30i 5G smartphone is powered by a 4500 mAh battery, which — with normal everyday use — ensures multi-day battery life.

It also adds support for 30 W fast charging, letting you charge the smartphone from 0 to 100 % in less than an hour. This is a very useful feature. Charging is done via the USB Type-C connector.

Standard connectivity

For further connectivity, the Redmi K30i 5G offers WiFi 802.11 AC, GPS, Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD codec support for minimal transmission latency, plus NFC and well-known Dual Band 5G connectivity.

Redmi hasn’t forgotten the die-hard 3,5 mm jack fans either — it’s included in this smartphone as well. Hi-Res Audio and an IR blaster for controlling home appliances are also there. The fingerprint sensor is located on the side of the phone.

A Great Price

The Redmi K30i 5G smartphone was just recently introduced for mainland China. Its price was set at 1899 yuan, which is roughly 244 € / 266 USD after conversion. For comparison, the price of the standard Redmi K30 5G is 1999 yuan, which is about 257 € / 280 USD.

The smartphone’s price is truly low for the specs you get, but we don’t know of official availability in Europe. We’ll closely monitor global availability, so make sure to check our website regularly — and don’t forget to subscribe to our newsletter.
