Redmi is likely working on a new smartphone. According to leaks, it should have a Snapdragon 870 processor, a 120-hertz display, and a 50-megapixel main camera. Maybe it will be a phone from the upcoming Redmi K50 series.
On the Chinese social network Weibo, the well-known leaker Digital Chat Station posted that Redmi is likely working on an interesting smartphone. He also shared some of its specifications.
The main feature is a Snapdragon 870 OLED display
The processor should be Snapdragon 870. It’s a really powerful chipset, so you won’t have to worry about performance. It will also include a 6,7-inch OLED display with Full HD resolution (2 400 x 1 080 pixels) and a 120 Hz refresh rate.
The main camera on the back will come with a 50 MPx resolution. The leak also revealed the model number of this smartphone, which is SM8250. Additional details and the launch date are still a big unknown. We should see the smartphone sometime during the coming year.
It’s rumored that it could be a new variant of the K40 line, and it might be called something like K40S, or it could even be part of the upcoming K50 series. We’ll find out over the next few months, when we’re definitely going to get more information.
The Redmi K40 series is very successful because it offers a great price / performance ratio. Several models from this line have also reached the global market, but under the POCO brand. That’s why we think this smartphone will be known on the home Chinese market under the Redmi name, and will arrive on the global market under POCO.
Either way, we’d be happy if Redmi further enriches an already quite crowded and very attractive mid-range segment. Alongside Xiaomi smartphones, brands like Realme or OnePlus are starting to do well there.
