Our favorite Chinese giant Xiaomi has revealed the date of the press conference, where we’ll finally get the flagship smartphones Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. We even have high-quality photos of the upcoming products.
Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will arrive on 11. December
The original Xiaomi press conference scheduled for 1. December was canceled due to the death of former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. Other Chinese brands also tried to take similar steps as a sign of respect, such as iQOO, which also canceled its events.
However, after more than a week, Xiaomi is coming with an answer and will present the new products still within this month. The press conference will take place at a fairly unusual time: on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 12:00 (our time). Xiaomi announced this this morning on its official Weibo profile.
It will be a Chinese conference, where Chinese models will be presented. The broadcast from the conference should also run live, but probably only in Chinese. We’ll have to wait for the global versions, most likely until March 2023.
Besides that, we also learned the final design of the upcoming devices, as well as the accessories that will be unveiled at this press conference together with the flagship smartphones.
Premium build and flagship Leica photo lineup
The new Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro look truly premium in the photos, from every angle. The textured back of Xiaomi 13 is complemented by a square rear camera module, as well as metal edges with rounded corners. The front side is home to a flat display with a cutout for the “selfie” camera at the top.
If we look at the “Pro” model from the series, the back looks like glass, but we can’t rule out a ceramic finish either. The design of the rear camera module matches the base model, but the sensors themselves may be different. The AMOLED display will also be different—it will be curved at the sides and will include a cutout for the front camera.
It seems the Chinese manufacturer continues its fairly advanced collaboration with the well-known photography brand Leica. After the introduction of a 1″ sensor in Xiaomi 12S Ultra, we can also expect this camera for Xiaomi 13 Pro. Leica’s improvements, however, should also come to the base model—at least according to the available photos.
We don’t know the technical specifications of these devices yet, however we expect a flagship processor, as well as several memory configurations. The devices should arrive with the operating system Android 13 and the custom UI MIUI 14. The manufacturer also has accessories in mind, and in the images we can also spot the upcoming “true-wireless” earbuds Xiaomi Buds 4 and smartwatches Xiaomi Watch S2.
