Xiaomi has launched new devices on the Chinese market in the form of a conference speaker called Xiaomi Audio and Video Conference Speaker. It targets customers and the current pandemic times, when online conferences are preferred over in-person ones.
Design similar to a soundbar
The Xiaomi Audio and Video Conference Speaker has a design similar to soundbars and comes in black plastic. A camera is located in the center, enabling video calls.
The camera has a 4K resolution and its sensor offers up to a 120-degree field of view. So you won’t have to worry about truly high-quality connectivity. In addition to the camera, the speaker also includes up to 5 built-in microphones.
All of this is handled by a Qualcomm processor, model APQ8053. It’s an 8-core processor made using a 14-nanometer technology and it’s powerful enough to manage all the processes.
The speaker itself has 10 W of power, which is enough for office conference calls. The speaker also features a dedicated DSP processor specialized in signal processing.
Bluetooth connectivity and app support
Wireless Bluetooth technology version 5.0 can be used for connection. The pairing button is located on the top of the speaker. On the bottom, you’ll find a universal connector for attaching it to any tripod.
The supported apps include big names like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Skype.
The package includes, besides the speaker, a practical remote control, several connection cables, a wall-mounting kit, and a brief user manual.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi Audio and Video Conference Speaker is intended for the home Chinese market and you’ll be able to buy it from 10. June at 10:00 for a price of 1 999 yuan, which is roughly 257 euros. It’s not yet known whether it will eventually reach the international market.
