Right after the Chinese reveal of the Xiaomi 17 base flagship, the manufacturer also unveiled the more powerful Xiaomi 17 Pro. A major and pleasant surprise is keeping the compact 6.3-inch display, and while you get the same for the standard 17, here you finally also have the long-awaited rear display.

Incredible price drops from our partner!
The compact yet properly loaded Xiaomi 17 Pro is seeing a significant price cut with our partner on DHgate, where it’s offered by the verified seller better_goods. They have customs-free shipping from a Chinese warehouse, so you don’t have to worry about anything. You simply pay the price you see on the product page and only wait for delivery of your new phone, which takes 2–3 weeks.
The phone is also available via TradingShenzhen, which likewise offers finely tuned shipping. It guarantees delivery from China directly to Slovakia and the Czech Republic without customs fees and VAT. Everything is included in the price, so there won’t be any unpleasant surprises when it arrives. On the website, we’ve already published an article about our Xiaomi 17 Pro Max order from China, which arrived in an unbelievable 9 days!

The experience of our community members’ Xiaomi Planet FB groups with an order
Even though it’s a Chinese version of the smartphone, there are still enthusiasts who don’t mind—and they ordered the phone anyway. One of them is Michael, who’s from the Czech Republic. He even ordered not only the Pro Max, but also bought his wife a smaller and more compact Xiaomi 17 Pro. In the group, he uploaded a photo comparison of both models.
Based on experiences like these in our group, you can decide which product is right for you and whether it’s worth it. This doesn’t apply only to these smartphones—within the group we discuss all possible Xiaomi products.
Will the Chinese version of Xiaomi 17 Pro work here?
Since the Xiaomi 17 Pro will not be officially available directly in Europe (global version), many of you are probably wondering about importing the Chinese version. We’ll cover its functionality right at the beginning of this article so everyone is clear. Yes, it will work, but with certain limitations. We’ve listed the important details below:
- Full support for 4G LTE and 5G networks for Europe ✅
- Full support for Google apps – Google Play, YouTube, Gmail… ✅
- Support for all banking apps ✅
- NFC payments support via Google Pay ✅
- Automatic OTA updates ✅
- Option to uninstall Chinese apps ✅
- Slovak and Czech language ❌ only English and Chinese
- Some parts of the system and the most-used apps can be changed to Slovak via the SetEdit app ✅
- Android Auto ❌ most likely won’t work
- eSIM not supported ❌ can be handled using this adapter
- Call recording available via the built-in phone app ✅
Later, our Chinese partner TradingShenzhen—who specializes in exporting Chinese smartphone versions to all of Europe—could handle international availability. As soon as that happens, we’ll let you know in this article, and of course we’ll also provide a coupon—so keep an eye on our website!
Xiaomi’s first compact Pro smartphone!
The Xiaomi 17 Pro relies on very thin bezels thanks to the LIPO display casing and a straight 6.3" panel. The resolution is 1.5K (2656 × 1220), with up to 12-bit colors, a P3 gamut, Dolby Vision, and LTPO 1 – 120 Hz adaptive refresh.
The highlight is up to 3500 nits at peak (M10 generation with a new red emission), so visibility in sunlight is excellent. Your eyes are protected by DC dimming across the entire range, TÜV low blue component, and no-flicker, plus a circular polarizer for a more natural display.
Dimensions 151.1 × 71.8 × 8 mm and a weight of approx. 192 g give you a “golden” grip. The body is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal glass with increased drop- and scratch-resistance. The rear “back-screen” area provides a preview from the main selfie camera, dynamic notifications, in-card music/call controls, and even remote vehicle control within the Xiaomi Auto ecosystem.
Top Leica Summilux optics plus a 5× telephoto lens
The main 50 MP camera sits on the Light Hunter 950L (1/1.28″) with a wide aperture f/1.67, OIS, and the LOFIC technology for single-shot HDR with up to 16.5 EV of dynamic range.
The 1G+6P optical system uses a complete set of anti-reflective coatings (MgF₂/LSC/ALD/PVD/SWC) that suppress veils, sun rays, and ghosts—so you get a clearer image even against backlight.
The telephoto lens is a Leica “floating” periscope with 50 MP, 5× optical zoom, OIS, and long-focus 20 cm macro. An ultra-wide 50 MP (≈102°) also handles 5 cm macro and can be used for dynamic video without noticeable aberration.
3 nm performance with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
At the core is Qualcomm’s 3 nm platform with a 2+6 all-big-core design (Oryon CPU). The manufacturer claims increases of roughly +20% CPU, +23% GPU, and significantly stronger AI (≈ +37%) at lower power consumption. Memory comes as LPDDR5X, with UFS 4.1 storage. Xiaomi HyperCore provides a fine-grained performance/power scheduler, and for long workloads a new 3D “ring-pump” cooling chamber helps.
In the gaming 60 fps mode, the manufacturer states that under one-hour load you get an average of 60,05 fps and a maximum around 40,4 °C. In practice, that means stable frames, low latency, and a lower thermal spike during long sessions.
6300 mAh: 100 W wired and 50 W wireless
The “Xiaomi Jinshajiang” battery has a capacity of 6300 mAh, a high silicon content (≈16%), and innovative multi-layer cell construction. Charging is via 100 W cable (PPS support up to 100 W), wirelessly 50 W, and there is also 22.5 W reverse wired and wireless charging.
After 2000 charging cycles, the capacity must remain ≥ 80%; a pair of chips, Surge P3 (charging) and G2 (battery management), takes care of it.
Communication is top-notch: the new “Star” system offers predictive AI multi-network 2.0, support for 210+ countries/520+ operators, “no-network voice” for kilometer-range voice connectivity in specific conditions, UWB, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and a strong antenna setup with Surge T1+/T1 amplifiers. Durability is handled by IP68 (up to 4 m/30 min). There’s also a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos technology.
Rear display: Selfie preview, gaming, or car control
Magic Back Screen, as Xiaomi calls its new rear display, shows dynamic notifications (drive/order/flight), lets you switch music, answer calls, and works as a selfie preview from the main camera, including the front beautify algorithm.
There’s also an interesting “sticky” feature: you can clip content from Super Mi AI or the Gallery onto the rear panel as a reminder/QR/image. You get AI dynamic wallpapers, personal watch faces, and even an interactive pet in the form of a panda or other animal that reacts to the weather, walking/running, and gestures in the air (thumbtack/V/heart).
But Xiaomi goes even further and adds the ability to play games on the back display. A special case with control buttons will be available for the phone, so you can control games with it. No, just… the Chinese…😅 The case is already on sale in China and costs 299 yuan, which is about 36 € / 870 Kč.
To top it off, through the rear display, Xiaomi electric car owners can control basic car functions. The display shows range information and lets you lock the car, open the trunk, or adjust the climate control.
Prices and availability in China
