With its MINIEYE brand, Xiaomi brings a dash cam that will warn you about an imminent accident

It’s nothing new that the company Xiaomi is an innovator in the tech world. It brings innovations in collaboration with various Chinese brands, one of which is now also MINIEYE AI dash cam.

A new MINIEYE AI dash cam has appeared on the Xiaomi Youpin platform, offering several smart features.

Sony sensor and compact dimensions

The dash cam has compact dimensions 10.4 x 3.6 x 4 cm and comes in a black matte color. The camera also features a small, practical display that monitors the road situation and at the same time warns you of potential danger.

An intelligent yet highly high-quality Sony sensor with a f/1.8 aperture and a 140° field of view captures all the details. While you’re driving, it can fully monitor traffic, including passing vehicles, pedestrians, or lanes.

The device can also record the entire road situation. Among other things, it includes a kind of prediction of a traffic accident and subsequent alerts about an increased collision risk.

A dash cam that can save your life

So how can an “ordinary” camera predict an accident or any collision on the roads? It’s very simple. The device has built in, besides artificial intelligence, also various algorithms that, in traffic situations, can detect a potential impact.

By combining these 2 elements, the camera can, based on the distances between cars and their behavior, recognize whether any collision is likely or, on the contrary, not likely.

The same applies when changing lanes, braking, or speeding up. Of course, the camera hasn’t forgotten about pedestrians either. It can detect them at a safe distance, and will once again warn you about their behavior, reducing the risk of danger.

The manufacturer MINIEYE even states that their collision prediction feature will alert you up to 3.1 seconds before a real accident or collision occurs. This works again based on the behavior of surrounding vehicles.

The Xiaomi MINIEYE AI dash cam was set by the manufacturer at 1,699 Chinese yuan, which is 247 USD / 212 EUR in conversion. The product is currently sold only in its home market in China on the Xiaomi Youpin platform, but we expect availability from international sellers soon.
