The Mi A line of smart phones is very well known from Xiaomi. Mi A smartphones don’t use the MIUI overlay, but pure Android – Android One.
The whole series has been heavily criticized. The biggest problem occurs with the latest model of this line, Mi A3, which still hasn’t received the stable Android 10.
Android One
Android One is pure Android, without any other overlay. Android One guarantees system updates for 2 years and monthly, security updates for 3 years.
Xiaomi wanted to give its users the feeling of ““pure Android”” in the Mi A line. The execution wasn’t perfect at all.
Third update to Android 10
For the Mi A3 phone, there have already been 3 attempts to update to Android 10. The first attempt took place in late February / March 2020, but it was rolled back due to bugs and shortcomings.
In mid March / March 2020 followed another attempt, but without results; the bugs were the same as in the first attempt.

The latest attempt to update to Android 10 happened a few days ago – 08.04.2020. In the screenshot below, we can see the user’s conversation with customer support, which claims that in the latest Android 10 update, some bugs may occur, so the update was pulled back again.
The biggest problems in the Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphone with Android 10 are:
- Random reboots
- Excessive battery drain
- Camera lag
- Fingerprint sensor problem
- Camera shutter issue
- UI Lag
- Performance problem
Xiaomi hasn’t commented on these issues yet. The Mi A3 is still running on the old Android 9 from 2 years ago, and for now we recommend staying on it.
When the stable version of Android 10 is released for the Mi A3, we’ll make sure to let you know.
