Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth smartphone, which will be unveiled together with MIUI 12 on April 27. Until then, however, it’s sharing details about both novelties.
Special periscope lens
The new Mi 10 Youth will come with a quad camera sensor setup, with one of them being a special one, the so-called periscope lens.
It will be used for photo zoom, offering up to 50x (digital) zoom. There will also be a 5x optical and a 10x hybrid zoom.
On top of that, the sensor will be equipped with high-quality optical image stabilization, which is already a must for comfortable shooting with such massive zoom.
With this feature, the smartphone reaches flagship level. A similar lens has only been used so far in the most expensive models, such as the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra or the Huawei P40 Pro.
Xiaomi says the lens will reach an equivalent focal length of 15 to 122 mm. Besides the periscope lens, the smartphone will get a high-resolution sensor, an ultra-wide sensor, and a macro sensor.
The company also shared the first sample photos created with the Mi 10 Youth camera on its official Weibo account. You can check out the results below.
A smartphone for the young
As the name suggests, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth will be aimed primarily at young people. At least that’s how Xiaomi communicates it in its marketing campaign. It will be available in four vibrant color variants.
The new Mi 10 series smartphone will support 5G networks and is expected to come with the well-known Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor.
The phone’s frame will be just 7,88 mm thick, and the weight will stop at 200 grams. We also already know that on the front it will feature a quality Samsung AMOLED display.
Since the smartphone will be unveiled together with MIUI 12, it’s very likely that this device will be among the first to get Xiaomi’s latest version of the user interface.
More details about the new smartphone will certainly be revealed in the coming days, and we’ll let you know about everything in time. Be sure to keep following Xiaomi Planet and subscribe to our news by email as well.
