Photos taken with a mobile phone are becoming increasingly popular. This trend is driven by two main factors: the smartphone’s compactness and affordability, along with the ever-improving quality of the photos themselves.
The newest rumors from active leakers reveal that Xiaomi could establish a partnership with a leading professional camera manufacturer in the near future. It’s none other than Hasselblad.
Hasselblad and Xiaomi
At the beginning of 2020, we published on our website an article that covered a social media poll on Weibo by the vice president of the Chinese giant. Chang Cheng asked Xiaomi fans which brand the well-known smartphone maker should partner with.
Fans had to choose between three well-known manufacturers. The options were Nikon, Canon, and Hasselblad, with the well-deserved win going to the Swedish Hasselblad by a wide margin. Since then, we haven’t seen any updates on this topic.
A collaboration is taking shape
Just recently, we learned from the reputable informant Digital Chat Station that the collaboration between the leading professional camera maker and the Xiaomi brand, mentioned long ago, hasn’t been forgotten.
Even though neither of the companies has officially commented on the collaboration yet, there’s a good chance something is being prepared in the background. As a result, we might get professional optics in a compact smartphone body. The idea sounds fantastic.
Rumors also say that the new collaboration could become real already in the form of the expected Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro flagship smartphone. However, this news hasn’t been confirmed by anyone either, so you should take it with the necessary reserve.
It’s clear that phone makers care more and more about improving mobile photography. Of course, there’s no reason to be surprised. Today’s premium models can already compete with DSLRs and mirrorless cameras to a large extent, but this collaboration with the Hasselblad brand will definitely deliver even better results.
What do you think? How do you rate this effort to bring professional photo gear to smartphones? Also, would you choose someone else from the three camera manufacturers mentioned? Feel free to share your thoughts and impressions with us in the discussion below the article.
