Xiaomi explains battery degradation during fast 120 W charging on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra

Besides the impressive zoom, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra also features an innovative battery. The new Xiaomi flagship, in fact, became the first to cross the threshold of fast 100 W charging.

It also managed to improve its battery degradation from a long-term perspective.

Dual-cell battery system

To achieve this performance, Xiaomi redesigned and split the smartphone’s battery Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra. This led to the creation of a dual-cell system (2 250 mAh + 2 250 mAh).

As a result, the charging currents are divided into two parts, preventing the battery from being directly exposed to the power of 120 W.

This dual battery is additionally made from super-conductive graphene-based materials. Thanks to this, unlike conventional lithium batteries, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra can boast a battery with a longer lifespan than other devices.

Great battery health results

As Xiaomi explained, its new flagship can maintain lower battery degradation than other devices. According to the company, the smartphone delivers up to 800 charging cycles, while keeping battery health above 90%.

Moreover, even when we use such high charging power, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra battery is much safer than lithium batteries. While lithium battery electrolytes burn when they come into contact with air, graphene electrolytes don’t have this physical property, which enables greater safety.

What’s more, Xiaomi introduced as many as 34 different layers of security to make charging the smartphone as safe as possible. Combined with what the Quick Charge 5 technology offers, this results in a safer charging system than other, less powerful technologies.

In short, the work achieved by Xiaomi goes a long way, and their determination has no limits. The result is that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra becomes a truly cutting-edge smartphone, packed with the latest technologies on every front.
