Xiaomi has been a global leader in the sale of wearable devices for several years—specifically smart bracelets. This year’s Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is once again shattering sales records, but the manufacturer Huami has recently shuffled the cards.

Under its own brand, Amazfit, it introduced the smart bracelet Amazfit Band 5, which is even better than the Mi Band 5 and has features that the Xiaomi bracelet doesn’t offer.

Buying on AliExpress for the first time?

This process is done through the AliExpress mobile app, where most people shop. Two things matter: don’t use Buy now and enter the coupon only in the order summary in the Promo code field. After you click Pay now, you can’t add it anymore.

1. Copy the code and click GET THE DISCOUNTIn our article, copy the coupon and click the button GET THE DISCOUNT. The link will take you directly to the product in the AliExpress app.
2. Use Add to cart, not Buy nowOn the product card, scroll down and click Add to cart. Don’t use the Buy now button—this skips the cart, so later you won’t have a place to enter the coupon. Before that, make sure the variant is correct: color, version, and whether it ships from an EU warehouse.
3. Continue to Checkout via the cartA pop-up will appear: Added to cart!—tap Check it out. If it disappeared, open the cart using the icon in the bottom-right corner. In the cart, check the product and quantity, then tap the red Checkout button. Only the items marked with the red circle are included.
4. Fill in your address and card, then look for Promo codeIn the order summary, first enter the delivery address and payment card at the top. Below that, there’s a line Promo code — expand it with the arrow on the right.

   

5. Paste the code and confirm ApplyIn the field Promo code paste the copied code and click the black Apply. The code is case-sensitive and must not contain spaces.

   

6. Check your savings and payIn the section Summary expand the line Saved — you’ll see the applied coupon there as AliExpress coupons/codes. Only when Total is really lower, click Pay now.

   

Apply the discount again in the order summary. After you click Pay now, you can’t add a coupon anymore. If Apply shows an error, the code has either expired, doesn’t apply to your item, or your order doesn’t meet the minimum amount.

Great sports features

Amazfit Band 5, according to the manufacturer, is designed for people who want to stay healthy and enjoy being in good shape. The bracelet comes with a lot of integrated health tracking functions, such as a sensor for 24/7 heart-rate monitoring, a blood oxygen level meter, sleep and stress quality monitoring, and a menstrual cycle tracker.

The bracelet will also guide you through various breathing exercises that can help bring peace of mind back to you and even out your stress level.

Besides additional features that the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 doesn’t have, the newly introduced smart fitness bracelet is practically identical to the aforementioned competitor under the Xiaomi brand. This means you can enjoy a 1.1-inch, color AMOLED display, with a resolution of 126 x 294 pixels.

Better than Xiaomi Mi Band 5

In the basic settings, you’ll find the same 45 watch face styles on the screen. The same applies to the 125 mAh battery, which promises 15 days of battery life on a single charge.

There’s also water resistance up to 5 ATM, a voice assistant Alexa (currently only in selected countries), controlling music playback via Bluetooth, or 11 sports modes. These track your performance during physical activity.

Whether the Amazfit Band 5 is worth it, compared to the less-equipped version from Xiaomi, is still a question even for us. While Mi Band 5 already could have dropped in price, the newly introduced model will be a bit more expensive for now.

However, if you’d be grateful for those few new features that the Amazfit alternative offers, it will be the better choice for you.

But if you already have a Xiaomi Mi Band 5 bracelet, we think there’s no reason for you to upgrade. Still, if you decide to switch—for example—from a Mi Band 3 or Mi Band 4, you can consider the Amazfit version instead of the aforementioned Mi Band 5 bracelet.
