Xiaomi is already an experienced competitor in the smartwatch segment for other major global manufacturers. And in connection with Xiaomi, the independently operating Redmi brand—just recently introduced to the world Redmi Watch—is still being mentioned.
Since Redmi focuses on products with the best possible price-to-performance ratio, even these watches can’t be an exception. That’s exactly why this situation is even more rare, considering that Redmi has just entered the smartwatch field for the first time
Redmi Watch are great-looking watches
This hot new release can be described in simple terms. In terms of design, they don’t stray from the practical square look we can also see, for example, on Apple Watch or Xiaomi Mi Watch. There’s nothing to criticize from a design standpoint.
The watches hit the market in three color options: blue, black, and gold. As for the official watch bands, they come in up to 5 colors: black, blue, gold, light pink, and green.
Rich set of features
The front is covered by a clear 1.4″ color touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and a pixel density of 323 pixels per inch. There’s also a physical button on the side of the device for basic watch control.
We also have to highlight the low weight of just 35 grams. Even though it may seem like a pointless parameter, the truth is that thanks to its low weight, wearing it will be comfortably effortless and the Redmi Watch won’t get in your way at all on your wrist.
As for watch functions, there’s a closed Xiaomi system running inside, so you won’t find various extras like WearOS. The plus side is battery life on a single charge, which is truly great.
In terms of design, you get more than 120 modern built-in watch faces, which—together with several color options—create countless different color combinations.
Now if we focus on sports and activity tracking, you’ll find that Redmi Watch offer 7 basic sports modes. Among them are swimming, walking, running, cycling, and several others. There’s also water resistance up to 5 ATM and sleep monitoring.
The watches have a built-in 6-axis gyroscope, a heart rate sensor, and an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust brightness. The battery capacity is 230 mAh, and the watches can run for from 7 to 12 days depending on usage.
Another big advantage is the implementation of an NFC chip for contactless payments, which are currently available only in the home country, China. Connecting to your smartphone is done via energy-efficient Bluetooth 5.0.
Price—just how Redmi does it
Redmi’s pricing policy is always set to benefit the end customer as much as possible. These watches prove it, too, since they start at the price of 269 yuan, which works out to roughly €34 / $41. For now, they’re available only in China.
