The entire Xiaomi 12 series was unveiled at the end of last year, but only for the Chinese market. Now we’re hearing information that Xiaomi is preparing another variant of the Xiaomi 12 Pro model.
Xiaomi 12S Pro?
The well-known leakster Digital Chat Station on the Chinese social network Weibo revealed that Xiaomi is working on a derivative of the Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone with the L2S designation, which will include the SM8475 chip.
This model has started being unofficially nicknamed on the internet as the Xiaomi 12S Pro. We know that inside we can expect a slightly improved Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which is also found in the original Xiaomi 12 Pro model.
The upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with the SM8475 designation will likely be manufactured using TMSC’s 4-nanometer process, which means it could deliver even better performance. The current Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor is said to have overheating issues, which reduces performance. That’s exactly why there’s research and development on a more perfect version.
The Xiaomi 12 series currently includes three smartphones; now we’ve learned about an upgraded Pro model, and the company is allegedly also working on a Xiaomi 12 Ultra model. We don’t know when we’ll actually get them, but for now we expect the arrival of their global versions.
Xiaomi 12 Pro specifications
The Xiaomi 12 Pro model features a 6,73-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s also a maximum brightness of 1 500 nits and support for LTPO technology, which automatically adjusts the refresh rate based on the content being displayed.
Inside, there’s the aforementioned Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, working with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256-gigabyte storage. The preinstalled Android 12 is complemented by the MIUI 13 skin.
The battery has a lower capacity of 4600 mAh, but that’s fine, because you’ll charge it ultra-fast thanks to a speed of up to 120 W. The main camera then has a resolution of 50 MPx.
