A subsidiary of Chinese Xiaomi, the POCO brand, is preparing a new budget-friendly model POCO C40. It will offer up to a 6000 mAh battery, and thanks to certification we already know some other expected technical specifications.
POCO C40: An available model with a 6000 mAh battery
POCO as part of the Xiaomi ecosystem focuses mainly on mid-range smartphones, i.e., affordable devices. They have a huge share of the market especially in countries like India. The Chinese tech giant has recently launched the M4 Pro model and is now also preparing to refresh its “C” smartphone series.
The upcoming POCO C40 model recently also received a pair of certifications: NBTC and BIS. Leaked information from the Mukul Sharma source claims that the model with the code name 220333QPG in Thailand’s NBTC certification represents the C40 smartphone.
The same device also appeared in the BIS India certification, which confirms these speculations. The entry doesn’t reveal the smartphone’s specifications, but suggests it could be launched soon.
MIUI 13 and slow 10 W charging
Worth mentioning is also the fact that a device with the same code name was recorded in the FCC certification. And it was this entry that revealed some key technical specifications of the upcoming smartphone. The POCO C40 should include the graphical overlay MIUI 13, based on the Android 12 system. However, a possible lighter version of the MIUI overlay is also in play.
As a mid-range smartphone, the POCO C40 should support Wi‑Fi connectivity on the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz bands. From other information, we know the smartphone will have dimensions of 167.18 x 76.87 millimeters (length, width), and it will support today’s rather slow 10 W charging.
Previous reports suggested that the C40 model will be powered by a rather unusual processor JR510, which is expected to be manufactured using the Chinese JLQ technology. In addition, a powerful 6000 mAh battery and a pair of cameras on the back of the device are expected to be part of the package. The smartphone should hit the market within this year, for an equivalent of $128.
