The company Amazfit has officially unveiled its new pair of smartwatches: Amazfit GTR 2 and GTS 2. The new watches will offer a more refined system as part of the package, along with 9H tempered glass and laser-engraved links for displaying the watch face.
Amazfit GTR 2: Round design and 9H tempered glass
The first of the two watches was revealed just Amazfit GTR 2, which will offer a circular design inspired by the previous and very successful generation. The Amazfit brand dedicated a significant part of the presentation to statistics, in an effort to build on the achievements of the prior generation with the new one.
The circular design will feature laser-engraved links for displaying the time, but also 3D curved glass, which offers durability up to 9H comparable to sapphire glass.
The package includes a 1.39″ AMOLED display with a fine 326 ppi, delivering brightness up to 450 nits. You’ll also enjoy the Always-On Display feature, which is present as well.
For future owners, the manufacturer prepared 50 unique watch dials, plus 40 dynamic dials. The Amazfit GTR 2 watches also have a low weight—just 31.5 or 39 grams depending on the version (sports version vs. standard).
OxygenBeats and Somnus Care + GPS
The watches bring more accurate and comprehensive health care. There is a new second-generation OxygenBeats engine that measures your blood SpO2 value, with measurement accuracy approaching 100%. According to the manufacturer’s data, the error rate is only 1.67%.
Sleep monitoring was also improved. The watches get the SomnusCare technology, which—besides detecting sleep itself—can also recognize individual sleep stages and monitors the smoothness of breathing during sleep.
Users receive a sleep-quality score, similar to the PAI health score, which is also available.
An important upgrade is sports activity monitoring. Currently, the watches support automatic detection of 12 sports modes, but in the future there should be up to 90. The watches can monitor swimming, running, cycling, hiking, and skiing.
There’s no shortage of a nine-axis motion sensor, GPS + GLONASS technology, and water resistance up to 50 meters—which will especially please swimmers.
Wi-Fi 6, NFC and XiaoAI assistant
The watches support both iOS and Android, and will also surprise you with 4 GB of storage and a set of three built-in linear speakers. Up to 600 tracks can be stored here, and they can be synchronized via the built-in Wi-Fi 6 technology. There’s no Bluetooth technology and no NFC chip for AliPay payments in China.
Additional features include the XiaoAI assistant in China, which currently supports 70 commands via the watch. You’ll appreciate the option to set up to 13 vibration types for notifications, as well as good battery life. It’s rated at 14 days with standard use and 38 days in battery saver mode.
Prices are excellent
The new generation of Amazfit GTR watches will be available on the Chinese market as early as 23.9.2020. The price of the version with a sports strap is set at 999 yuan, which converts to 125 € / 147 USD.
For the price of 1099 yuan, i.e. 137 € / 160 USD, the version with a more luxurious leather strap will also be available in China.
Global availability of the watches has not been confirmed yet, but we expect—following the pattern of the first generation—that the second generation will also be sold on the global market. We’ll monitor the situation and inform you about everything in time.
