Amazfit is a brand that also started under the wing of China’s Xiaomi and has finally brought these smart watches under the name Amazfit Balance with support for contactless payments. And yes, right here in Slovakia, through selected banks or services.

Amazfit Balance: The first model with contactless payments
The Amazfit Balance watches offer a metal build with a rotating crown and rather substantial protruding frames around the display. They’ll be available in two colors: silver with a textile strap (Sunset Grey) and matte black with a silicone strap (Midnight).
The dimensions of this model are 46 x 46 x 10.6 mm, and its weight (without the strap) is 35 grams. In addition to the mentioned crown, there’s also a programmable physical button for controlling the watch and other functions. The watch body offers enhanced resistance to water and dust with a 5ATM certification.
1.5″ AMOLED display, GPS, and 14-day battery life
The front is home to the 1.5″ AMOLED display. It’s circular and has a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels. It’s covered with toughened protective glass and also has a layer resistant to fingerprints and grease, with a resulting smoothness of 323 ppi.
Sport activity monitoring (for more than 150 sports) is complemented by sleep tracking, breathing exercises, and stress tracking, heart rate, SpO2 monitoring, Zepp Coach, and Zepp AI chat. All that data is handled by the integrated BioTracker 5.0 PPG sensor and a BIA Bioelectric sensor.
For passionate athletes, you can also connect external sensors, such as a chest strap. We’ve tested the Magene H64 from AliExpress, and it works perfectly—especially considering the extremely low price compared to Garmin or Polar strap models.
It doesn’t lack an accelerometer, six-band GPS, or a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection, plus Bluetooth 5.0. Pairing with your smartphone is handled by the Zepp app, available for Android and iOS. As for connectivity, it also includes an NFC chip—more on that in the next section.
The battery has a capacity of 475 mAh and with standard usage it offers up to 14 days of battery life. In battery saver mode, that increases to up to 25 days. And with continuous GPS tracking, it drops to 47 hours. The magnetic charger is included in the box.
This is how you’ll pay in Slovakia
The integrated NFC chip offers card payment options directly through your smart watch. However, besides the hardware itself, software support is also crucial. Amazfit brings cooperation with Mastercard, whose cards can be used to pay with your watch.
On the Slovak market, you can use a Mastercard card via a pair of supported banks. Specifically, it’s 365 bank and, starting now, also mBank. An alternative is using the UK Curve service, which lets you make payments with your other cards too, including VISA. You can read more about Zepp Pay payments at the following link.
September’s 2024 update brings a built-in keyboard and message replies!
Amazfit is constantly working on improving its products, and for Amazfit Balance they released a major update in September 2024—for the first time ever bringing a built-in keyboard to Amazfit watches! Yes, you read that right: with Amazfit Balance, you can now reply to messages directly from your watch.
This new feature is part of the update to the new ZeppOS 4.0 system, and the keyboard is also available on other Amazfit watch models, and here’s what: Amazfit Active, Amazfit Cheetah (Round, Square and Pro), Amazfit Falcon, Amazfit T-Rex Ultra, and Amazfit T-Rex 3.
The built-in keyboard lets you reply to messages you receive in the communication apps on your phone, directly from your watch. For some languages, a dictation feature will also be available. You’ll be able to reply to messages if your watch is paired with an Android phone.
If you pair it with an iPhone, replying to messages isn’t possible because Apple restricts it. However, Amazfit came up with a workaround. It’s a complicated solution that requires using two third-party tools (Beeper and Matrix).
