Today’s update will especially please users who enjoy tracking their health. Chinese company Xiaomi is rolling out new features within its mobile app Xiaomi Health, which is, this time, also changing its official name to Mi Fitness.

Xiaomi Health is becoming Mi Fitness

In recent years, we’ve been able to see how individual brands tried to offer their fans new alternatives when it comes to software for monitoring health functions.

Xiaomi is no exception, either—a Chinese manufacturer that has launched several devices intended to help monitor your health too, such as the Mi Watch and smart scales. Information from these devices was then evaluated and grouped in apps like Xiaomi Wear or Xiaomi Health.

However, from a well-known source MIUIes comes a new piece of information specifically about the popular app Xiaomi Health. It will be renamed to “Mi Fitness,” and this change will also bring several new features. What’s more, as it seems, Xiaomi is planning to turn this app into a hub for all devices and information related to health monitoring.

We know the devices that will be compatible with the Mi Fitness app

As mentioned, the Mi Fitness app should not only replace but also enhance the original Xiaomi Health. The app will focus on a detailed display of recorded data, as well as smooth and fast synchronization for officially supported wristbands and smartwatches.

Of course, besides fairly standard data like step count, calories burned, distance covered, or other details, it will also be possible to evaluate and record sports activities using the GPS signal integrated in your smartphone. Combined with sensors from wearable devices, these measurements will be much more accurate than before.

In the Mi Fitness app, three new widgets will also be added – two with activity statistics from each day (steps, calories) and a widget that shows your sleep status. You’ll be able to add these widgets directly to your home screen.

We currently don’t know how the app will work with the Xiaomi Wear title, which is also currently available for download for Android or iOS. In any case, this app will be usable for syncing data as it has been so far.

Here is the list of officially supported devices for the Mi Fitness app:

  • Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6
  • Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5
  • Xiaomi Watch S1
  • Xiaomi Watch Color 2
  • Xiaomi Mi Watch Color
  • Xiaomi Mi Watch Color Sport
  • Redmi Watch 2
  • Redmi Watch
  • Redmi Band
