Today, in China, an event took place where the latest gaming smartphone Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro. was unveiled. It comes with top-tier specs and it’s truly a beast.

After previous articles about rumors and leaked information, you already know that Xiaomi was preparing a new gaming weapon for quite some time—and most of the specs have been confirmed.

Snapdragon 855+ and 6.39″ AMOLED with 240 Hz

The most powerful smartphone processor of today is indeed inside. Inside the Black Shark 2 Pro, there will be a 7 nm processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ with a clock speed of 2.96 GHz. No problem with games, especially together with the GPU Adreno™ 640.

The 240 Hz 6.39″ AMOLED display offers a resolution of FHD+ with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and support DC dimming 2.0 (a technology that reduces screen flicker at lower brightness).

However, the display is said to have an improved touch response from 43.5 ms, which the Black Shark 2 had, to 34.7 ms. A feature especially for gamers.

12 GB RAM and plenty of color options

As we expected, this gaming beast is available in variants with 12 GB RAM and storage of 128 / 256 GB. The 512 GB version will be missing.

The surprise is 3 new color variants. Besides the classic green-black and silver, blue “Racing”, orange “Flamingo”, and beautiful purple “Myth Ray” are now available. That’s thanks to a collaboration with the Chinese e-sports team LNG Esports. The design has also been improved with 2 RGB LED lights on the back side, along with a grip for better hold.

Besides the gorgeous color finishes, Xiaomi has also prepared colorful protective covers that will protect the Black Shark 2 Pro from drops and impacts.

Xiaomi has gone crazy with the prices again! The version with 12 + 128 GB is sold in China starting at 2,999 yuan / 390 € / 10 000 kč, and the 12 + 256 GB version costs only 3,499 yuan / 456 € / 11 700 kč ?For such a top-end smartphone, that’s really not much. Sales start on August 2, for now only in China.

The camera has also been improved. On the back, there’s a dual 48 + 13 MPx camera (previously only 12 MPx), and on the front, a much more powerful 24 MPx selfie sensor. Storage has also been upgraded to UFS 3.0 technology.

The battery remains the same with a 4000 mAh capacity and support for 27 W fast charging. Connectivity is the same too, with a 3.5 mm audio jack and a USB Type-C connector. Xiaomi also introduced a new gaming controller and a pair of gaming headsets.
