How to remove unnecessary apps from HyperOS without root?

HyperOS often comes with preinstalled apps that many users don’t use. You can safely remove these apps using the command line in the ADB app, without needing root access. Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide on how to do it without risking system stability.

Before you get started, though, we need to warn you that this guide is intended for experienced users. When working with apps, you must be extremely careful so you don’t remove an important part of the operating system.

First, a detailed video guide:

This is the exact process you need:

Your computer:

  • ADB and Fastboot drivers for Android USB (ideally the latest version 1.5.6)
  • A compatible USB cable (the one from the phone box is enough)
  • A computer with Windows, Linux, or MacOS

Your phone:

Getting started in HyperOS:

  1. Disable unwanted features in HyperOS
We recommend turning off these features:

    • App Vault
    • Swipe up for Google Search (from HyperOS Launcher, classic mode)
    • Wallpapers
    • Find device
    • Mi Sync (don’t confuse it with Google Sync)
  2. System prep
    • Go to Settings > About phone
    • Tap the “HyperOS Version” option several times until the message “You are now a developer” appears
    • Go to Settings > Additional settings > Developer options
    • Enable the following options:
      • USB debugging
      • Installation via USB
      • USB debugging (security settings)
    • Accept all prompts that appear (a Xiaomi account will be needed too).

Steps to remove bloatware in HyperOS:

Initial setup

  1. Connect your device to the computer via USB.
  2. Start ADB and enter the following command:

Important warnings

  • If you remove critical system apps like Mi Account, Security, or Google Services, the system may become unstable.
  • Extra apps aren’t removed permanently—they’re just hidden. Restoring factory settings or an OTA update will bring them back.

  2. Always back up your device before making any changes.
  3. Avoid deleting core system apps like Google Services, MIUI Security, and others.

By eliminating bloatware on HyperOS, you can improve your device’s performance and remove unnecessary “junk” without having to force root access to the device, which ultimately voids the official 24-month warranty.
