Our favorite Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is getting ready for its upcoming premium smartphone branded Xiaomi 12 Ultra. And thanks to a case maker, we already know the design of this flagship, as well as the layout of the elements within the rear camera module.
Xiaomi 12 Ultra: This is the design of the expected new product
The upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone is expected to be the brand’s first model with a new, not-yet-introduced flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. This chip should be made using a 4 nm manufacturing process by TSMC. The official unveiling could take place as early as June, but before that we already have new leaks.
This time, the leak is about the back of the smartphone, because a photo showing the device’s design was revealed by another accessory maker. The image appeared on the Chinese social network Weibo, and was shared by a source using the nickname @ExperienceMore. They claim they came across the photos while browsing listings on local Chinese e-shops such as JD.com or Taobao.
Purecar Design plans to release two case versions at once
And it was in such an offer that a fairly popular Chinese brand could also be found—one focused on making cases for smartphones. Purecar Design already has covers intended for the back of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. Naturally, based on the name and the design, the case is inspired by the well-known competitor brand—premium “Porsche Design”, which has worked with, for example, the Chinese brand Huawei in the past.
Cases for the upcoming smartphone are available in two color versions: Midnight Black and Jade Green. However, it’s not the case itself—rather, it’s the design of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone that the case maker has revealed in this way. On the back, you can see the expected rear camera module with up to seven cutouts for the lenses, focusing elements, and a dual flash.
This information leak also suggests that Xiaomi has already finished the design of the back with its rear cameras, and it has already sent prototypes to Chinese case makers across the country. A similar move was something we could also see in the past—especially to ensure that case manufacturers can keep up with production even before, but mainly right after, the device’s official launch.
