DxOMark started evaluating the sound quality and tested the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro. It didn’t turn out well.

DxOMark, as we all know it, deals with testing the photo quality of all possible phones. The tested devices are always neatly sorted in a table according to the number of points scored in the test, so we can easily and comfortably compare the models that interest us right now.

However, DxOmark has now also started testing the quality of the audio output. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro also went through the test.

Sound isn’t its strong suit

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro comes in a configuration of 5 cameras on the back and one selfie camera. The camera setup is almost completely the same as with the Mi Note 10, with just a small difference in the number of lenses on the main sensor lens.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro (Xiaomi CC9 Pro Premium) was rated for its audio performance 54 points, which earned it 11 place in the ranking. Parameters such as sound reproduction within the audible range of tones, bass, treble, and volume were taken into account.

DxOmark assessed the results by stating that in the category of phones with a single speaker it ranks among the better ones due to well-balanced maximum volume. On the playback side, among its positive points are the clarity of the midrange and treble. On the other hand, because of the lack of bass, the sound is tinny.

When it comes to sound recording, it does a bit better there. When recording in calm conditions, such as during meetings, the sound recording is sufficient. However, for environments with too much noise, such as live concerts, this smartphone isn’t suitable.

Higher price due to the camera

You might think that from a phone for about 500 euros you’d expect better results. As they say, nothing is perfect. In this case, Xiaomi focused heavily on the high quality of the camera, which takes up a large part of the smartphone’s price.

In its price category, however, it achieves the best results—and what’s more, it even beats 1000-euro pieces. The Mi Note 10 Pro is therefore designed for people who want top-tier photo quality, but don’t care that much about speaker sound quality.

Most users nowadays opt for quality headphones, which provide a much better audio experience.
