A real review from our fan:
Fanúšik Ľuboš shared his experience with this projector in our Xiaomi Planet Facebook group. These are his words:
Hi, I bought a fengmi s5 mini projector, a short review. I bought it from Gshopper. Delivery in 2 days from the main warehouse. For the projector you need an adapter—you have to buy the EU reduction for 1–5€ with it. Setup took about 10 minutes; I recommend also having a tripod or you’ll have to prop it up like I did with everything possible.. (my brother added a tripod). The setup is in Chinese, so use Google Translate and you’re good to go. After a few minutes of scrolling, you’ll get English. Connect to Wi-Fi and immediately it wants an update. After that, you repeat the language settings.. As a media player, I connected a Nokia 8010 to it. The picture is great, and the screen hasn’t arrived yet. I’ll add a couple of photos. Today I ran the installers for Magio Go and Kodi, so I’ll also try it without the Nokia. No problem at all, everything works. The sound is also great—the projector is equipped with Denon audio. I just hope it will serve me for a long time.
Great video review:
Fengmi S5 Mini: Stylish design, 1100 ANSI and 4K resolution
Fengmi (Formovie) builds its Fengmi S5 Mini laser projector in compact dimensions and with a stylish design finish featuring an interesting texture. The body measures only 175 x 175 x 48 mm and weighs just 830 grams. That makes this model ideal for use indoors, but also for taking with you.
In terms of features, there’s a laser light source (0,23″ DMD source, ALPD technology) with a maximum brightness of up to 1100 ANSI lumens and 4K content support (native resolution is set to 1080p). The aspect ratio is 1.2:1 and the contrast is 1500:1.
Up to 120″ image, HDMI 2.1 and a USB-C connector
The image size can range from 40″ to 120″. Depending on the viewing distance, which is 1.11 m – 3.11 m. The package also includes automatic correction for trapezoid distortion, automatic correction of image size and alignment, as well as intelligent image focusing and intelligent obstacle avoidance in the image.
The performance is handled by last year’s Amlogic T982, a processor known from several smart TV boxes from China. This processor is also paired with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. In terms of connectivity, there’s an HDMI 2.1 port, USB 3.0, as well as a 3.5 mm audio jack and USB Type-C with 65 W power support for powering it (0.5 W power consumption in sleep mode). You’ll also appreciate the low noise level of just 23 decibels.
The projector also includes two built-in speakers, each with a music power of 5W. Production of these speakers was handled by the brand DENON Sound, which is a fairly well-known name in audio technology. The speakers also come with dual decoding certification for Dolby Audio and DTS-HD, working together with the FAA sound engine developed by Fengmi.
