Just before tomorrow’s official big presentation by Xiaomi, where the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G will also be unveiled, we’re learning its estimated prices. We already know it will be a real flagship with the best hardware for the year 2019 and also 5G support, which will be reflected in the price.
Among Xiaomi smartphones, there won’t be a budget one
Even Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, on his Weibo profile, posted that the Mi 9 Pro 5G price tag won’t be exactly the lowest, considering the price of the previous Xiaomi Mi 9 model. After all, the new model will get the most powerful hardware paired with 5G support, an even nicer display, and a new linear vibration motor.
Just the hardware is the most expensive part of a smartphone, so we won’t be surprised by the higher price. Leaked unofficial info mentions amounts of 3599 yuan for the version with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. In conversion, that’s 460 € / 11 900 kč.
The leak also reveals the availability of a model with up to 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, which in the Chinese market should cost 3999 yuan, i.e. about 510 € / 13 300 kč. Even with higher prices—ones we’re not used to from Xiaomi—that’s still a price-friendly smartphone considering its specs. There’s a good chance the Mi 9 Pro will be the cheapest 5G smartphone on the market.
4000 mAh battery and a decent speaker
Besides the leaked prices, we also learned other details, this time from the “official source.” The manufacturer confirmed that the Mi 9 Pro will come with a solid 4000 mAh battery. A higher battery capacity is basically a must for a 5G smartphone, since 5G connectivity consumes much more battery.
The new phone will also include the latest fast 40 W wired charging, which can charge the battery to 100% in just 48 minutes. 30 W wireless charging will also be there. Despite the large battery and a luxurious glass body, the smartphone weight stops at 196 grams, which is a reasonable value.
Mi 9 Pro, among other things, also comes with improved sound. You’ll get a new linear speaker with a large sound chamber of 1.04CC. The upgrade will also happen in the area of wireless audio transmission — the smartphone will support the LHDC Bluetooth HD codec.
From other specs, we already know it will feature a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, a new liquid cooling system, a new haptic motor for intense vibrations with a response time of just 10 ms, plus a 6,39″ Super AMOLED display.
More will be revealed tomorrow at the official presentation, where Xiaomi will also introduce the Mi MIX Alpha, MIUI 11, and its first 8K smart TV.
