the first electric vehicle from Xiaomi is obviously progressing very smoothly. Lei Jun said that production could begin earlier than expected.
The Xiaomi Auto is supposed to be officially unveiled sometime during 2024, and according to the original plan, mass production is also set to start this year.
Serial production will start earlier
The CEO of Xiaomi himself, Lei Jun, said via the Chinese social network Weibo that mass production of the first electric car is closer than we originally thought.
This momentum is also due to the fact that last year the manufacturer invested in the development of this electric vehicle more than $433 million and is currently working on it with more than 2,300 employees.
This could theoretically mean that production will begin as early as the end of this year. It will take place in a new factory in Yizhuang, Beijing, where the company’s headquarters and research & development center are also located.
Xiaomi is considering a second factory
Xiaomi’s manufacturer is even considering building another factory that would produce up to 300,000 electric cars per year, so Xiaomi plans to invest a lot of money in this project.
Serial production will likely begin already this year, but the unveiling remains planned for year 2024. The advantage is also that after the official unveiling, customers won’t have to wait so long for their new vehicles.
Some complications could come up during mass production, but we believe nothing like that will happen. We know that the project is overseen by Lei Jun himself, so he will make sure everything gets extreme attention.
MIUI Car
Although some alleged sketches of the Xiaomi MS11 electric car have leaked, nothing has been confirmed about whether the final design will look like this. We still haven’t seen the interior either, but the infotainment will be powered by the MIUI Car system.
