Quick summary

  • The protective trademark XIAOMI SU9 LUX has been registered since 7. 9. 2026
  • It should be an extended SU7 with a length of over 5.2 m
  • Estimated price in China: over 400,000 yuan (more than €53,000)
  • Xiaomi is staying silent; it’s not coming to Europe until 2027

Xiaomi has registered a new name for the car: Xiaomi SU9 LUX. The trademark in China’s registry was found by the website ITHome and today the portal CnEVPost has also written about it. Several Chinese bloggers connect it with the extended SU7 sedan that Xiaomi has been testing with camouflage for a while. According to their estimates, it will measure more than 5.2 meters and will be positioned in China against extended limousines from German brands.

Xiaomi has protected the SU9 LUX name until 2036

The application was filed by Xiaomi Technology 13. February 2026 in class 12, which covers cars and other vehicles. The Chinese Intellectual Property Office provisionally approved it on 6. June and the opposition period ended on 6. September. The next day, the mark was registered and protection is valid until 6. September 2036.

The trademark itself doesn’t yet mean that the specific car will be called that. CnEVPost also points this out. Xiaomi hasn’t commented on the name yet. The suffix LUX is commonly read as an abbreviation of the word luxury. The Spanish website MundoXiaomi also notices the number. A jump from 7 to 9 would correspond to a bigger car and a higher class.

The extended SU7 is said to measure over 5.2 meters

Today’s SU7 has a length of 4 997 mm and a wheelbase of exactly 3 000 mm. One of the bloggers on the Weibo social network posted two photos of a camouflaged prototype. They estimate the new sedan will be longer than 5.2 meters, and the wheelbase will be around 3.1 meters. The car grows mainly behind the B-pillar. It has longer rear doors and the roof slopes more gently toward the back, so rear passengers get more legroom and more headroom.

In a later test video, ITHome says you can also see rear wheel steering, modified side cameras, and another radar on the side. However, the figures differ between sources. In April, Web CarNewsChina reported an extension of only 150 mm, which would mean roughly 5.15 meters. The exact dimensions will only be shown by homologation or the premiere.

Competition: Extended BMW, Audi and Mercedes

ITHome reports an unofficial estimate of the price above 400 000 yuan, which is more than 53 000 euros. Its competitors are said to include the Audi A6 L, the BMW 5 Series Li, the Mercedes E L class, and the Stelato S9 sedan from the alliance around Huawei. The presentation date is not known yet, and Xiaomi’s new sedan has not officially been confirmed.

Extended limousines from German brands are produced specifically for the Chinese market. For example, the BMW 5 Series Li, which is also offered as the electric i5, has a length of 5,175 mm and a wheelbase of 3,105 mm according to BMWBlog. Xiaomi’s estimated dimensions are almost the same. Here in Slovakia, you can only buy the business sedan in the shorter European version. You won’t find extended Audi A6, BMW 5 Series or Mercedes E-Class in Slovak price lists.

Where does it fit into Xiaomi’s lineup?

Xiaomi started selling cars in March with 2024 sedans SU7, which in August 2026 surpassed 500 000 delivered units. SU7 Ultra followed, then SUV YU7 and from September, the SkyNomad N70 and N90 family with extended range has also been on sale. The seven-seat SUV that the media had been calling unofficially YU9 for months finally arrived on the market as SkyNomad N90 Max. A larger sedan above SU7 is still missing from the lineup. That one should be SU9 LUX.

A bigger sedan would also help Xiaomi’s sales. In September, the company delivered 40 015 cars, the most this year, with 12 444 of them being SkyNomad models. Meanwhile, SU7 itself dropped to 15 751 units, year-over-year by 19,55%.

In Europe, Xiaomi cars are not being sold yet. The company signed a memorandum on September 3 at IFA in Berlin with eight German dealer groups and plans to enter the market in 2027, first in Germany. Which models will come to us, Xiaomi didn’t say. It’s also unclear whether an extended-range sedan will be among them. Its main rivals in Europe aren’t sold at all.
