Quick summary

  • 70,000 locked-in orders from 7. 9. to 7. 10.
  • First 10,000 orders in 4 minutes
  • More than 10,000 cars delivered in September
  • In China from 209,900 yuan, in a conversion under €28,000

Xiaomi has published the sales performance from the first month of its new SUV line Xiaomi SkyNomad. From September 7 to October 7, customers confirmed more than 70,000 locked-in orders for all four versions of the series. The figures were provided by the CarNewsChina website, and Xiaomi also confirmed them with an official poster.

Non-binding reservations aren’t counted in the total—only orders where the car configuration has been selected. The date 7. October has its reason. Anyone who confirmed their order by midnight on 7. October received benefits that Xiaomi offered only in the first month of sales.

A fast start to sales in the home market

The sales launch was fast from the very start. According to the portal CnEVPost, the first 10,000 orders arrived within four minutes of sales going live. At the time, Xiaomi promised deliveries within one to five weeks because some of the cars were produced in advance.

Far from YU7, but for a car with a range extender, it’s still a lot

With the record-breaking YU7, you can’t really compare it. The electric SUV YU7 had over 200,000 binding orders in June 2025 within three minutes and 240,000 in 18 hours. The CarNewsChina editorial team openly admits it in a comment, but they still consider 70,000 cars per month a strong result.

SkyNomad N90 Max Studio

The reason is the drivetrain type. SkyNomad is a range-extended electric vehicle (EREV): the wheels are driven only by electric motors, and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine serves purely as a generator. In China, these cars are losing customers. According to CPCA association data cited by Gasgoo, 95,000 of them were sold in May 2026, which is 24.9% fewer than a year earlier. Their share among electrified vehicles fell from 10.3% to 7%.

Xiaomi is addressing this with a big battery. SkyNomad N70 Max can drive up to 505 km on electricity under the Chinese CLTC standard. In everyday use, you can drive like an EV, and the generator switches on only on longer trips.

Four versions from 28 to 40-thousand euros

The SkyNomad lineup comes in two sizes. The smaller N70 is 4,960 mm long with a 2,950 mm wheelbase. The larger N90 Max measures 5,285 mm in length with a 3,080 mm wheelbase. Both are the same width, 1,998 mm.

The cheapest N70 Pro with a single motor costs in China 209,900 yuan, roughly under €28,000. The N70 Max with all-wheel drive is 30,000 yuan more expensive and costs 239,900 yuan (under €32,000). For the larger N90 Max, you pay 269,900 yuan, about €36,000. At the top is the N90 Max Explorer Edition with a power-retractable roof for 299,900 yuan, around €40,000.

We described the version with a sliding roof in September under the name Studio. Once the roof is extended, a second sleeping level is created above the cabin, and an adult can stand upright inside. The smaller N70, on the other hand, has a flat floor, second-row seats that slide by 600 mm, and a 9-liter refrigerator. You’ll find the full equipment list in our launch article.

The N70 cargo space is 1 203 liters by default; after folding the second-row seats: 2 425 liters.

10 thousand delivered cars; another 60 thousand are waiting to be produced

In September, Xiaomi delivered for the first time this year more than 40,000 cars in a single month. Company CEO Lei Jun confirmed that over 10,000 of them were SkyNomads. The first units were handed over only a few days after the premiere. So around 60,000 customers still have to wait for a car.

Production speed will definitely determine whether the annual target is met. Xiaomi set a goal of 2026 550 cars for the year 000. According to the German site Elektroquatsch, they delivered at least 286 475 cars in the first nine months. Roughly 263 500 cars are still missing to hit the plan, which works out to 88 000 per month in the last quarter. So for Xiaomi to meet its September figure, it would need to more than double.

In Slovakia, you can’t officially buy SkyNomad; for now, Xiaomi doesn’t sell cars in Europe. With individual import, based on our September estimate, the N70 Pro would cost around 43 000 € after shipping, customs duty (clo), VAT (DPH), and approval. The European Commission is also preparing customs duties for Chinese hybrids. If those applied, the price would rise even further.
