We already know that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be a flagship camera phone, and we’ll find out in just a few days. The CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, himself posted a couple of photos from this smartphone—they look amazing.
The photos were shared on the Chinese social network Weibo. Lei Jun gave us a taste of everything, so we can see different scenes, from portraits, backlighting and HDR to night scenes.
The level of the resulting images was already set high with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, but this model ultimately didn’t make it to the global market—something its successor will address.
The photo setup will truly be top-tier
As we’ve already informed you, the manufacturer will really put the spotlight on the sensors, and the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be equipped with up to four Sony sensors.
The first new feature will come in the form of the Summicron lens, built by Xiaomi together with the renowned company Leica. The lens should bring a new level of professionalism to smartphone photography.
The main camera will be a 50-megapixel sensor with 1-inch size Sony IMX989. The other three sensors will be Sony IMX858 with the same 50-megapixel resolution.
Movable aperture
The biggest surprise, though, will be the use of a movable aperture on the main camera. This is something very unique, and until now, only one smartphone has brought it to the market.
It’s basically about the fact that the user can change the aperture in the range from f/1.9 to f/4.0, thus changing the background blur range—similar technology to what you get with cameras.
But the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will also have to prove its qualities to the respected DxOMark ranking, because it’s determined to secure its place on the throne.
Launch coming soon
Just a reminder that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be unveiled on April 18 at 13:00 (our time). Also, at least for the Chinese market, there will be a presentation of the Xiaomi Pad 6 tablet series and the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 bracelet.
