The shocking new addition in the form of the innovative smartphone Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha sparked plenty of discussion. The new smartphone left no one around, including people outside the circle, cold — especially not those from competing manufacturers. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei, said that the device has no practical use.
It didn’t take long and a response also came from Xiaomi.
No practical use?
The mentioned Richard Yu from the competing Chinese company Huawei considers the smartphone a concept and that’s precisely why he doesn’t see any practical use for it. On the social network Weibo, however, Xiaomi’s reaction didn’t take long to arrive.

Lu Weibing, the vice president of Xiaomi Group, responds ironically, saying that if a display around the entire device doesn’t have a practical purpose, then what “practical use” means is a device from another brand being sold for more than 10,000 yuan (about €1,280). Even such marketing wars happen from time to time in the tech world, and that’s not everything either.
Lu Weibing continued, for Xiaomi, for a few more hours explaining the whole situation on the same social network. He talks about the right to information that should be returned to users. Supposedly, why should a customer pay tens of thousands of yuan for the “luxury” design of an expensive automaker, if it has nothing to do with that brand.
He was probably taking a jab at Huawei’s luxury model lineup, such as the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design, priced at nearly 13 thousand yuan.

He also says the manufacturer should directly inform whether they use the design and brand of that luxury automaker, or whether they use their own design with the help of a luxury brand, e.g., an automaker. According to Xiaomi’s representative, this issue shouldn’t be ignored.
