The latest smartphones from Xiaomi already have their first sale behind them. Xiaomi Mi 10 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro sold out in China in one minute and the timely delivery of their global versions is in jeopardy.
The demand for Mi 10 is unreal
It seems the manufacturer had some major problems with meeting demand for the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. The launch of these flagship smartphones caused something like a frenzy. Just one day after the Xiaomi Mi 10 presentation, the entire batch of this new product sold out in a minute.
During yesterday’s Pro version sales launch, the same scenario played out again and already 55 seconds after the sale started, the stock disappeared. About 40 000 units were sold. Xiaomi generated revenues of roughly €26.5 million / 657 million CZK.
It’s undoubtedly a huge success that even the manufacturer itself probably didn’t expect. Stock ran out somehow very quickly and new deliveries are still awaited. The reason is also the ever-spreading coronavirus, which has already forced some facilities to close in China and imposed significant restrictions on the movement of both people and goods.
So Xiaomi could take up to several weeks to restore its stocks. The time needed to meet demand for Mi 10 in China is something we’re even afraid to estimate. Unfortunately, this situation can easily spread to global markets like a domino effect.
Delays to global versions are real
The still dangerous virus has already affected the launch of the global version of Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, after the organizer decided to cancel this year’s mobile technology fair MWC 2020. It was precisely at this event that new Xiaomi smartphones were also supposed to be presented on February 23. The replacement date for the presentation is still unknown.
However, given the latest reports, there is a very real fear that their delivery to global and European markets will be delayed significantly too. At the moment, we don’t have any new information about the date and method of presenting Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro in Europe. Also, the sales launch date is not known.
