An unknown Poco X2 with 8 GB RAM has passed a performance test. Could it be a rebranded Redmi K30?

On the Geekbench benchmark page, which focuses on testing smartphone performance, a new device has appeared. It is the Xiaomi Poco X2, about which we haven't heard before. In terms of both specs and the name, it resembles the Redmi K30.

There could ultimately be more new Pocophones

At the end of December 2019, the head of the Poco brand, Alvin Tse, posted a tweet hinting that a new Pocophone would arrive in 2020. Earlier this week, reports came in that Xiaomi registered a trademark back in December / the end of 2019: Poco F2.

This suggests that the release of the Poco F2 model could be announced within the next few months.

The first Pocophone F1

What’s interesting is that the new device named Poco X2 appeared on the Geekbench page with several key specifications. This name first appeared for the first time, and there are no reports about a similar smartphone.

Last year, however, Geekbench misled many tech websites with a fake model name for the Poco F1 Lite.

8 GB RAM and Android 10

In any case, the smartphone test labeled as Poco X2 on Geekbench 5 shows that it is powered by a Qualcomm processor with a base clock of 1.80 GHz. It has 8 GB of RAM and runs on the Android 10 operating system.

In the motherboard name field, it lists „Phoenixin“. In Geekbench 5's single-core test it scored 547 points, and in the Multi-Core test it scored 1767 points.

These specs are very close to the Redmi K30 model, and similarity is also suggested by another fact. The Redmi K20 last year has the code name Raphael, and its Indian version is called Raphaelin.

The similarity probably won’t be purely coincidental, since the current Redmi K30 is labeled as Phoenix, while the tested Poco X2 model is named Phoenixin.

The Redmi K30 model, with model number M191G7BI, has recently appeared in the database of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). BIS approval suggests that the phone could soon arrive in India. Instead of Redmi K30, it will most likely be sold under the name Xiaomi Poco X2, which is nothing unusual for Xiaomi and Redmi brands.
