Xiaomi's subsidiary brand, POCO, officially announced its new affordable smartphone, the POCO M3, at its press conference today. It also offers a 6.53″ display, a Snapdragon 662 processor, up to a 6000 mAh battery and a very low retail price.

POCO M3: 6.53″ IPS display and Snapdragon 662
Right at the start of the presentation, the company POCO introduced its vision for the F, X, and now also M smartphone series. The M line is meant to be the most affordable one, and compared to cheap competitor smartphones, it wants to go even further and upgrade the equipment itself. This is the result in the form of the POCO M3 model and its technical specifications.
The smartphone offers an interesting color design and, despite the plastic frames, it definitely includes a hint of targeting younger customers. The device features a 6.53″ IPS panel with Full HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels) and a teardrop notch at the top.
Thanks to thin bezels, the display takes up up to 90,34% of the front area. The notch houses the front camera with 8 MPx resolution.
In terms of performance, the manufacturer wanted to stand out from the competition and offers a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor made using 11 nm technology. It’s also paired with 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage (version 2.2 only for 128 GB of memory). DualSIM support is included, along with a full separate microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 512 GB).
Three cameras and a 6000 mAh battery
A very important element of this device is the rear camera. It includes a set of three sensors, with the main one offering up to 48 MPx resolution (f/2.0). There are two secondary cameras: an 5 MPx (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle sensor and an 2 MPx (f/2.4) macro sensor. No LED flash and support for recording 1080p (30 fps) video is available.
The camera also comes with multiple modes such as color-focus, meaning focusing on individual colors. It also includes a time-lapse mode, plus a night mode for better photos in low-light conditions.
Other equipment surprises with the presence of stereo speakers certified for Hi-Res audio, an infrared port for controlling home electronics, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and FM radio.
As for the battery, it comes with a battery with a total capacity of up to 6000 mAh, while the smartphone also supports fast 18W wired charging directly in the box via a USB Type-C connector.
The manufacturer also highlights the cycles of its batteries: while the competitor’s standard battery has 800 cycles at full battery capacity, POCO offers up to 1000 battery cycles. The package also includes a fingerprint sensor located on the side power button. This solution can be found in several Xiaomi models already.
