POCO X2 (Redmi K30) went through a brutal durability test. It shows how easily it can be snapped in half

It’s only a moment from the launch of the new POCO device from the “independent” brand POCO, their new POCO X2 smartphone. It’s basically just a rebranded Redmi K30 4G. It brings specs like a 120 Hz display, a large 4500 mAh battery with fast 27 W charging, and a quality 64 MPx Sony camera.

Brutal durability test

This new device was tested by an Indian YouTube channel Gupta Information Systems in हिंदी  and they prepared a proper stress test. They checked durability against scratches, drops, water, but also bending.

In the last mentioned point, the POCO X2 or Redmi K30 4G failed completely. So we don’t waste your time, you can watch the full durability test below.

Good water resistance

In the video we also saw testing of the smartphone’s water resistance. The POCO X2 or Redmi K30 4G was submerged in a deep bowl of water. Then it was left there for 3 minutes.

Even though the manufacturer doesn’t state any IP rating (because of the lower selling price), the smartphone had no issues with water. The display worked, charging worked, the audio jack and speaker worked. Water didn’t get anywhere. However, submerging or taking a bath/swimming with the smartphone is definitely not recommended.

There’s a gap in the durability of the construction

The worst thing that can happen to a smartphone is breaking it. Even though such accidents don’t happen often, the Indian tester tried it on every side. The POCO X2 has a weak spot right by the fingerprint sensor, where it simply snapped in half.

That moment proved fatal for the new device. If you’re planning to buy a POCO X2, make sure you avoid situations where it could bend—e.g., when carrying it in the back pocket and sitting down.

The glass construction attracts scratches

This is something we can’t avoid. The back is covered with glass, and fingerprints and scratches stick to it very easily.

On the front, the display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, so here the durability is ensured as well as it can be. But if an sharp knife goes up against it, it has no chance.

In terms of construction durability, it’s a more fragile smartphone, and that’s where the manufacturer cut back. However, it surprised with its water resistance, since there’s no official IP certification, but the smartphone survived a “bath” in a bowl of water.
