POCO X5 Pro and POCO X5 have received another important certification, the presentation is imminent

12. January 2023 3 min read 0 comments

It seems that POCO wants to offer two new smartphones on the Indian market already at the end of this month: POCO X5 and X5 Pro. This is also suggested by the new TDRA certification.

Both smartphones have therefore passed TDRA certification, which, however, doesn’t reveal any of their specs. But it gives us the confidence that the smartphones will truly be unveiled soon.

Again rebranded models

Other reports claim that the POCO X5 smartphone will be a rebranded model, the Redmi Note 12 5G. This phone, introduced for the China market, comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor.

The info says that this weaker chipset will be replaced by POCO with something more powerful—so it should be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 with 5G support.

A similar situation will also apply to the upcoming POCO X5 Pro. There, POCO will use only the recently introduced Chinese model Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition.

The entire Redmi Note 12 series

The launch on the Indian market is therefore imminent, and it’s expected that the same smartphones will arrive later on the global market as well. We’ll see whether POCO comes first or the global versions of the Redmi Note 12 series.

Redmi Note 12 5G

By combining POCO and Redmi, we could end up with an almost complete Chinese Redmi Note 12 lineup. The base Redmi Note 12 5G as POCO X5, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition as POCO X5 Pro, and two models from the Redmi Note 12 series—specifically Pro and Pro+.

This is what we expect specs to look like

For POCO X5, we expect a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. A 48MP main camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.

Performance should therefore be handled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G, along with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The battery should be 5,000 mAh with 33W charging.

Redmi Note 12 5G

The Pro model likely comes with a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The main camera will be 108MP, and the front camera will be 16MP.

The chip will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G. The battery will be 5,000 mAh with up to 67 W maximum charging power. In both cases, Android 13 with the MIUI 13 skin will be preinstalled.
