The so-called “true-wireless” earbuds segment is also undergoing annual innovations. Proof of this is the new REDMI Buds 6 and REDMI Buds 6 Pro. earbuds.
REDMI Buds 6: An affordable entry-level model with ANC
Alongside the new Redmi Note 14 devices, we also got original accessories on the global market in the form of new “true-wireless” earbuds. Specifically, it’s the new Redmi Buds 6, designed to deliver great sound at a sensible price.
In terms of design, they follow their predecessor: the charging case is low-profile and opens across its entire top side. When it comes to audio performance, they offer a pair of drivers. The main one is a titanium-coated 12,4 mm dynamic driver, complemented by a 5,5 mm piezoelectric tweeter.
Thanks to their own sound profiles, these earbuds promise advanced customization to match your music style. Another big plus is support for active noise cancellation (ANC). Xiaomi says they can reduce noise by up to 49 dB, which will help, for example, when commuting on public transport. You’ll also appreciate support for 360-level spatial audio.
They also support a transparent mode that adjusts sound pass-through based on your surroundings. For Bluetooth calls, there are two microphones with AI algorithms to suppress surrounding noise. Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 5.4, and total battery life—including the charging case—reaches up to 42 hours. You can charge via USB-C.
REDMI Buds 6 Pro: Global debut with a trio of drivers
Besides the base model, a more premium option also made its way into the spotlight from the two-model lineup— REDMI Buds 6 Pro. In an exceptionally compact design, they pack three powerful drivers.
Inside these earbuds, you’ll find dual piezoelectric tweeters and a single 11 mm driver with a titanium diaphragm. This combination should deliver sharper highs and deeper bass tones. Naturally, you can customize the sound modes, and the earbuds also support head position tracking.
The advantage is support for high-quality playback codecs, such as LDAC and LC3. As a result, you get audio transmission at up to 990 kbps. And once again, we can’t skip noise cancellation—ANC.
And the Pro version brings an improvement for eliminating up to 55 dB of noise, promising to block practically all disruptive elements of mid and high frequencies around you. Xiaomi claims this feature is up to 14.16% more effective than the previous model. There are also touch gestures on the sides of the earbuds and an LED indicator for remaining battery capacity.
Other features include an advanced equalizer to tailor your audio output, plus three microphones enhanced with an AI algorithm to ensure clear and intelligible Bluetooth calls with noise suppression up to 12 m/s in your surroundings.
As for battery life, the wireless earbuds themselves offer up to 9.5 hours of playback on a single charge. Combined with the charging case, this is extended up to 36 hours.
Price and availability of the new REDMI earbuds
Both audio newcomers, REDMI Buds 6 and REDMI Buds 6 Pro, will be available in color options: black, white, green (Buds 6) and purple (Buds 6 Pro). Sales start is scheduled for January 15, 2025. Here are the official retail prices for the UK market:
