Xiaomi is gradually revealing more details about the upcoming Redmi K100 flagship series, which will be officially unveiled on 11 August in China. The model drawing the most attention so far is the Redmi K100 Pro Max, which the manufacturer describes as a smartphone designed specifically for mobile gamers.
The new release brings several technologies that we haven’t seen in Redmi smartphones yet, including an extremely fast 185 Hz display, a dedicated AI graphics chip, or audio tuned by Bose.
The first REDMI with a 185 Hz display
The biggest new feature is a 6.9-inch flat display with ultra-thin bezels and a refresh rate up to 185 Hz. Xiaomi claims this is the first smartphone in the Redmi lineup with such a high refresh rate, and that more than 30 popular mobile games will support native 185 fps rendering. The next ten most demanding titles are expected to handle native 165 fps as well.
The display is paired with a new touch chip offering an ultra-fast sampling rate of up to 4800 Hz, plus a sampling rate of 480 Hz for up to ten fingers. Xiaomi also says it delivers around 16% faster touch response—something competitive gamers will especially appreciate.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and an AI graphics chip D2
Performance will be handled by a completely new processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, created using the second generation of the 3 nm manufacturing process. Xiaomi says that in the AnTuTu benchmark, the smartphone reached up to 4.55 million points, placing it firmly among the absolute top of the market.
The processor is complemented by a separate AI graphics chip, the Xiaomi D2, which enables simultaneous increases in both frame rate and resolution in supported games. The manufacturer states that in five popular FPS titles, the phone can activate both a high refresh rate and super resolution at the same time without a significant drop in performance.
Bose audio, special antennas, and a new design
The Redmi K100 Pro Max won’t rely on performance alone. Xiaomi has also prepared a special network of seven gaming antennas designed to reduce latency during online gaming regardless of how you hold the phone. The signal is supported by pairs of chips, the Xiaomi Surge T1+, which improve the stability of both mobile and Wi‑Fi connections.
The manufacturer also worked with Bose, which handled audio tuning. Xiaomi promises significantly better spatial sound reproduction and up to 200% better audibility of footsteps or gunfire in games. On the back, there’s also a new light LED backlighting that reacts to the music being played.
A luxury look that feels like iPhone
The new model comes in Cabernet Red with a metallic frame and rounded edges. The design of the rear camera module clearly resembles the current iPhone Pro models, but Xiaomi gave it its own character thanks to the integrated Bose speaker and a light ring. According to earlier leaks, the smartphone should also get a periscope telephoto lens, but the manufacturer has not officially confirmed this yet.
As we mentioned earlier, the complete unveiling of the Redmi K100 series will take place on 11 August, when Xiaomi will reveal all the technical specs and the prices of each model. We’re very curious about its next competitive features.
