Just a short while ago, Xiaomi officially unveiled the much-anticipated Redmi Note 7 Pro. It happened at a conference in India, where the smartphone will be available right after the presentation ends. The smartphone brings the upgrades we expected.

A new mid-range king?

In terms of design, compared to its sibling, Redmi Note 7, nothing has changed. You still get an attractive smartphone with a glass back and a waterdrop-style notch on the display. The real changes happened under the hood.

Initial rumors have now been confirmed. Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor. It features 8 Kryo 460 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.0 GHz. Graphics are handled by the Adreno 612 chip.

Performance compared to its predecessor, Redmi Note 6 Pro, increased by an incredible 155%. In the familiar AnTuTu benchmark, the new model reached an impressive score of 180 808 points. The highest Note 7 Pro version will come with up to 6 GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Rear 48 MPx camera

While the standard model, Redmi Note 7, uses a 12 MPx sensor to create 48 MPx shots, its upgraded version has received a true 48 MPx sensor. This is a Sony IMX 586 lens, which also arrived for Xiaomi’s flagship Mi 9 just a few days ago. Xiaomi has therefore brought top photo quality to a budget-friendly smartphone.

It’s a dual-camera setup, with the secondary sensor offering 5 MPx resolution. As for the primary sensor, it has a 1/2″ size and is even larger than the sensor in OnePlus 6T or iPhone XS Max. That means it can capture more light.

You can also count on a large f/1.79 aperture and the 1.6 µm 4-in-1 Super Pixel technology. Thanks to this tech, it can produce stunning photos even in poor lighting conditions. The more powerful processor and camera also enable video recording in 4K resolution at 30 fps. Recording is stabilized by electronic image stabilization.

13 MPx selfie camera, 4000 mAh battery

In the extra features of the new Redmi Note 7 Pro, we’ll find a 13 MP front camera packed with artificial intelligence. AI can create, for example, portrait-style “selfies” with a blurred background. The artificial intelligence in the camera setup also takes care of security – it enables unlocking the smartphone with your face.

One of the best features of Redmi smartphones is their long battery life. Redmi Note 7 Pro keeps this tradition, too, with a 4000 mAh battery. You can even charge it exceptionally fast via the USB Type-C connector thanks to Quick Charge 4 (18 W) technology.

However, to use fast charging you’ll need to buy a compatible adapter separately, because the one included in the box has a 10 W output. The lineup is completed by a 6.39″ FullHD+ display, Gorilla Glass 5 protective glass, and the MIUI 10 system.

They didn’t disappoint with the prices

Redmi Note 7 Pro will kick off its journey on the Indian market. It will be available in two memory versions. The 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage version was priced in India at 13 999 INR, which is approximately €175 / 4400 CZK.

The higher version with up to 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage can be purchased by locals for 16 999 INR, i.e. about €210 / 5400 CZK. Considering the specs, the prices are incredible again.

Along with the Redmi Note 7 Pro, the Redmi Note 7 was also unveiled today in India. However, we didn’t get any information about global availability. Still, we’ll be looking into the brand’s official distributors for Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and as soon as we learn something new, we’ll let you know.
