At today’s online Redmi conference, a total of three products were introduced: the much-anticipated Redmi K30 Pro smartphone, a speaker with a screen, and a new TV. It’s the brutal Redmi Smart TV MAX with a 98″ diagonal.

A huge display
Redmi Smart TV MAX is the official name of the brand-new smart TV. The MAX label deserves it, because it includes a downright crazy 98″ diagonal. Converted to centimeters, that’s an unbelievable 249 cm.
The device’s overall dimensions are 2190 mm wide and 1345 mm tall, including the stand. The new Redmi TV is definitely not for every household. The entire TV weighs an incredible 70 kg with the stand and around 60 kg without the stand.
The manufacturer also has two bizarre comparisons. The size of the Redmi Smart TV MAX was compared to the size of a bed. This TV is about 13,6% larger than a bed that’s 1,2 m wide. Even the screen area is so big that the TV could even serve as a ping-pong table.
Full specifications
The TV offers a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, so it’s standard 4K. It supports the NTSC color gamut with a range of 85%, dynamic backlighting, and includes MEMC technology that eliminates motion blur during fast-moving objects.
They also improved storage space and RAM memory. The previous Redmi TV had a memory size of 2 GB/32 GB. The Redmi Smart TV MAX comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. It’s powered by a quad-core Amlogic processor with Cortex-A55 cores made using a 12 nm process.
The TV runs PatchWall based on Android, which includes artificial intelligence with recommendations for multimedia content depending on what the user watches most often. The system also provides the Mi Home app for controlling all home devices from the Xiaomi ecosystem.
There’s also support for wireless screen casting directly from the smartphone to the TV display. High-quality sound is also included, delivered via an upgrade DOLBY AUDIO with DTS-HD. Sound is produced by a pair of stereo speakers with 2 x 8 W power.
Great connectivity
The new Redmi Smart TV MAX has a trio of HDMI ports, one AV, and one analog input for the antenna. There’s also 2x USB, 1x ethernet, and 1x S/PDIF. For wireless networks, it supports Wi-Fi 2,4 GHz/5 GHz.
The price competition can’t keep up
Compared to the competition with such a large panel, the price is a bargain. The new Smart TV MAX will be sold in China for 19 999 yuan, which is about 2 610 € / 72 380 kč.
Competition from Philips, specifically model 98PUF7683/T3 with the same diagonal, comes out to 13 000 euros / 362 000 kč; another competitor, KONKA LED98G30UE, costs almost 20 000 euros / 542 000 kč. So the Redmi newcomer is priced extremely aggressively.
