Redmi officially announced when we can expect new smartphones, specifically the Redmi Note 11 series. On the same day, the company will also unveil the new generation of Redmi Watch 2 smartwatches.
Upgraded design
Redmi officially revealed a poster showing the new generation of Redmi Watch 2 and also added the official reveal date. Fans of the brand, keep your eyes peeled.
On the poster, the date is 28. 10. 2021 at 19:00 Chinese time. At the same time, the Redmi Note 11 series smartphones will be presented as well. But this will be a China event.
Just like the first generation, the watches will stick to a square format. Where things change is the display. Redmi will use a larger display, but the watch dimensions shouldn’t increase dramatically. The company will achieve this by shrinking the bezels around the display, which were pretty massive in the first generation.
The watches will still likely be plastic, but the advantage is that they’ll be truly lightweight. We’re also curious whether Redmi / Xiaomi will stick with the special strap attachment or switch to a classic mechanism.
There’s still room for improvement
Besides that, the new smartwatches should also come with upgraded hardware and more advanced measurement features. A welcome new addition would be, for example, a blood oxygen level monitor.
Maybe animations will finally be added to the system. There’s definitely plenty to improve compared to the previous model. The price shouldn’t increase much, and the watches will be an entry point to the smart world.
