Before the official reveal of Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, we expected that, as every year, it would be a straightforward choice for users looking for a smartphone with the best possible price-to-specs ratio. The whole series has practically always been like that—and it managed to bring something extra in that price bracket.
The biggest Xiaomi community on Facebook
This year, though, it’s not quite that clear, even if we like the phone in many respects. As is common in the lower mid-range, it makes several compromises. Is this new model a good fit for you too? It depends on your priorities. If you want the details, you’re in the right place. This is a review of the smartphone Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G.
Where to buy Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G?
You can find the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G with our Chinese partners. The DHgate marketplace offers the phone directly from the EU warehouse. Great news: free shipping with no extra customs charges, so you can expect it at home already within 7 business days after it ships from the EU warehouse.
The package from Gshopper and DHgate from the seller mi_fans_store from the Spanish warehouse also includes the original European 45 W charger for the smartphone. This does not apply to the package ordered from Slovakia, or from the German warehouse on DHgate from the seller mi688. These packages do not include a charger.

In the box
Our first mild disappointment came right after unboxing. Besides the phone, there’s a short manual in the box, a SIM-eject tool for two nanoSIM cards, a basic gray case, and a cable with USB-C and USB-A connectors. No charging adapter.
But that might not be the case for you, depending on where you buy it from a seller that includes one as part of the package. There’s a protective film on the phone’s display from the factory, which we always like. That way, you can protect the screen from cosmetic damage caused by scratches right from the start.
Design
Although the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is plastic, we didn’t recognize it immediately after our first contact. The plastic on the back feels smooth, and it took us a while to figure out whether it’s matte glass or something artificial. What we want to say is that the polycarbonate back doesn’t give a cheap impression at all. It doesn’t pick up fingerprints and ensures a comfortable grip. The device’s sides are glossy and tapered, which feels really good.
Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G feels noticeably thinner. It’s a suitably large phone with curved edges both on the front and the back. Bezels around the screen are quite thin, and the punch-hole for the front “selfie” camera is also fairly subtle, located in the middle of the top part of the display.
The back is dominated mainly by the rounded module for three camera lenses and an LED flash. In its center you’ll find information about the primary sensor’s resolution – 200 MP, that it has OIS, and also the text “AI Camera”, highlighting advanced photo software processing. Below that is the Redmi logo together with the 5G label.
We, however, like the phone mostly from the front. It looks very elegant and far more expensive than it really is. The top of the device houses a loudspeaker, microphone cutouts, and an IR blaster for controlling supported electronics remotely. At the bottom you’ll find a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, a second loudspeaker, a microphone, and a slot for a pair of nanoSIM cards.
While the left side is empty, the right side has controls in the form of volume buttons and a power button. Their layout is traditional – the power button sits below the volume rocker. We tested the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G in a black colorway, but there are also blue and purple variants. The smartphone weighs 190 grams and measures 162.3 x 74.4 x 8.4 mm.
Display, fingerprint scanner and speakers
The display on the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is absolutely top-notch. We were genuinely pleasantly surprised by how nice the screen is at this price point.
For some people, its curved edges might be a downside. We have to admit that we recorded accidental touches a bit more often than usual, even though the curvature isn’t all that drastic. Later, though, we got used to it and those accidental touches stopped after just a few days of testing.
We have to praise the panel’s excellent readability in direct sunlight. Its peak brightness reaches up to 3000 nits, which is far from common even in this price category. It’s more of a flagship-level parameter. It’s a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution (1220 x 2712 px) and a 120 Hz refresh rate.
The panel supports displaying 68 billion colors, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision content, and it’s protected by a durable glass: Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Viewing angles are excellent, and we also like the integrated optical fingerprint scanner, which is fast and reliable.
Unlocking works practically almost always on the first try and with about a one-second response time at most, usually much quicker. While the speaker output is fairly loud, the sound is rather flat. But of course, we didn’t expect miracles.
Power
Let’s say it plainly. The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is clearly not the most powerful smartphone in history, and it’s also slower than its competition. The MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset, made on a 4 nm process, focuses on efficiency. We’ve used another model with this chipset, and it also wasn’t the smoothest.
But this Redmi is even a bit slower. It’s nothing terrible, but if you previously had a well-optimized phone with a cleaner Android version, you’ll notice slower app launches, lazier multitasking, or small animation stutters.
The phone would occasionally test our patience, but in the end it’s nothing too serious and it’s enough for everyday use. Just keep in mind that for some actions you’ll simply have to wait a little extra second for the result.
If you’re a casual user and you don’t play mobile games, an energy-efficient chip will give you better battery life at the cost of slower system reactions. However, that’s what you’ll have to live with.
A new release from Redmi doesn’t impress in benchmark apps. If you want a fast smartphone for the same price, we recommend you pick something else—like models from POCO, which usually use faster chips. The compromises happen elsewhere, for example in the display or cameras, where the advantage is with the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G.
Although the device was characterized by record-high stability in the 3DMark stress test—up to an incredible 98 %—it’s because this processor simply doesn’t have the performance to significantly heat up, and therefore under long-term high load there’s no “thermal throttling”. We also got a very low number of points in popular benchmark apps AnTuTu Benchmark and Geekbench 6.
Available memory versions are 8 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 256 GB, and 12 GB + 512 GB. The choice is up to you. If we had to advise you, in our opinion this phone isn’t built for demanding multitasking, and unless you really need the 512 GB of internal storage, you should stick with the cheapest edition.

Cameras
A 200 MPx primary camera looks very promising on paper, but after reviewing the results, we definitely wouldn’t call it a sensor with such high resolution. Photos get fairly “soft” after zooming in—details are lost and the edges are sometimes blurry.
Overall, the photo impression without focusing on details is very positive. The overall color and contrast profile isn’t bad, and compared to the competition, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G probably won’t have to be ashamed. You may notice occasional blown highlights, but most of the time the phone keeps things in check.
If you’re a fan of mobile photography, get something from a higher price tier. Unfortunately, you won’t find an excellent photographer here, but Redmi definitely won’t disappoint. For capturing everyday shots—including the more valuable ones—it’s simply good enough.
Still, there are limitations on the chipset and its ISP (Image Signal Processor). Because of the higher resolution, even relatively usable are 2× zoomed and 4× zoomed shots. The ultra-wide camera doesn’t perform very well—it has 8 MPx and there’s very little detail already during the day, not to mention at night. The main sensor also drops quality rapidly in low light.

Even with a steady grip, you’ll often get a slightly blurred shot because the exposure time is a bit longer. The 2 MPx macro sensor probably isn’t something you’ll use often, but the results are surprisingly not bad. Every now and then, a shot does turn out well. The front camera is quite solid too, the 20 MPx shooter.
It will serve not only for video calls, but also for occasional “selfies”. The photo app also automatically offers beautifying and face-enhancing modes, like that – of course, you can adjust it or completely disable it. Just like the rest of the camera setup, even the front sensor captures shots with a truly impressive dynamic range.
It’s definitely not as good as models that are a few dozen euros more expensive, but in most cases the result is very usable. Video is then acceptable—Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G can do 4K at 30 fps or 1080p at 60 fps. The weak point is audio recording quality. During motion, details are lost; when standing still and holding the phone in a stable position, the video looks pretty good and is sharp.

Battery and charging
Within just one hour of watching YouTube videos at medium brightness, we recorded a battery charge drop of 7 %. The phone lasted almost 2 full days with 5 – 6 hours of screen-on time.
On average, you’ll run the phone down in 1.5 days, or if you’re an active user, even in a day with screen-on time of 7 – 8 hours, depending on how demanding the apps you plan to use are.
Naturally, we’re happy with these results, but we could still expect about an extra hour of SOT (Screen On Time) given the relatively low processor performance. Regardless of that factor, you won’t have any trouble with battery life. It’s really good.
Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G supports 45 W wired charging. We were surprised that the box didn’t include a charger, but only a USB-A to USB-C cable. However, if you order from the right seller, you’ll also get the adapter. The software includes options for long-term battery health protection by limiting charging to 80%.
Right out of the box, optimized charging is enabled—it will monitor your charging habits and accordingly optimize charging speed. In addition to the battery-protection mode that reduces performance, animations, and background processes, there’s also a high-performance mode, but in this case it won’t make a noticeable difference. Finally, you can enable faster charging, but you’ll need to have a sufficiently powerful charger available.
Operating system
The software came with the operating system Android 14 and the graphical interface HyperOS 1.0.8. The announced 3-year software support will practically be shortened by about a year, since the device was introduced with an older OS version, even though Android 15 was already available.
The software comes with a lot of preinstalled apps, and some of them are annoying enough that they send notifications. Still, you can uninstall them. After the initial setup, we chose a new font style—one that HyperOS includes. It feels nicer than the default font.
There’s also a new, redesigned control center with quick toggles. Since on most other devices we’ve had good experience with this customization in terms of optimization, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is likely slower due to hardware limitations. During our testing, we received one firmware update.
Connectivity
From a connectivity standpoint, there’s nothing to complain about. You get relatively modern Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, an infrared port, USB-C 2.0, and very fast 5G connectivity with decent signal reception strength at all times. Location services are available in the form of GPS, Galileo, Glonass, QZSS, and BDS.

For it to work reliably, you should be in the open outdoors—and ideally in clear weather. Compared to other models, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G detected availability of fewer satellites indoors. In terms of calling, mobile data transfers, or using Wi-Fi networks, we didn’t run into any problems.
Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G: Final verdict
Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G delivers great battery life and an excellent display at the cost of lower performance. It looks great—an elegant device—with a solid system full of handy features, and at this price it won’t disappoint even with its 200 MP camera. It proves that the lower mid-range can do even better in photography than it did just a couple of generations ago.
With this smartphone, you’ll produce photos that are ready to be shared on social media. In the details, you can spot imperfections, but overall the results are very satisfying.
If you find a good deal on this phone with a price below 300 €, ideally even lower than 250 €, it will be a great buy if you’re looking for a nice phone with long battery life, a great display, a usable camera, and you don’t have high performance requirements.
